I have visited Kerala and Sri Lanka many times over the last 09 years to receive Ayurveda Treatment - so far Surya Lanka has been the best overall. In my experience in general Ayurveda in Kerala is a bit more intensive compared to Sri Lanka, with more focus on Panchakarma treatments than massages. Surya Lanka is intensive! As the Doctor explained to me this is because the overall Ayurveda program was devised by one of the leading Ayurveda Doctors in India over 20 years ago, and they have maintained that same schedule to this day. After the consultation with the Doctor I received my personal treatment program. The next day at a different session the same Doctor also explained what oils would be used for my massages. The Ayurveda program follows the traditional Panchakarma process of three steps - Preparation, treatment and aftercare. At the end there is another meeting with the Doctor to see the final results. This Resort also gets top points for overall experience. The beach right next to the property is beautiful. I had two walks a day during the sunrise and sunset because I did not participate in the Yoga. The room was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the garden, and the staff are the friendliest people I have come across (especially Dilum in the restaurant and Lahiru at the Reception). It was a joy to be at Surya Lanka. My body feels the best it has in a long time, and my mind is at rest. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a serious Ayurveda program.
I came for the first time to do a punchakarma 13 days retreat. I didn’t know what to expect.
I was pleasantly surprised and I am Inlove with the place... 50 shades of curry... so much to choose from and super friendly n professional. This is not a luxury facility, yet, simple and clean. You hear the waves and relax automatically... a m a z I n g
I could heighly recommend, if you want a very quiet Ayurveda treatment. Very frindly stuff and direct located at a wonderful beach (exept of the dogs). Its not a luxery resort, but clean, food is fine and i recommend the rooms in the new wing. Ayurveda medicine is natural, so no heavy metal as they told me.
My husband and I stayed at Surya Lanka for 4 nights as part of our honeymoon. In summary, this place is in a fantastic location, has amazing food, lovely staff, a gorgeous beach and really high-quality service. Facilities are not luxurious because it's all part of providing a realistic Ayurvedic experience. We have nothing to add to Surya Lanka. If you are looking for a true detox and relaxing experience this is THE place to be! Thank you so much for helping us switching off :D
Spent two weeks of ayurveda treatments at Surya Beach and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel is offering good accommodations - not luxury, but good rooms and bathrooms. The food is just fantastic - too good if you want to loose weight!
The treatments are well organized, although I am not sure of the quality of the doctors. This was my 5th ayurveda treatment, mainly for allergies, and I must say that other treatments have been more successful. The facilities are very well organized. Everything is very efficient but somehow the doctors do not come across as experts.
The setting of the hotel is very nice, and the walks on the beach are fantastic! The only thing we did not like were that for instance the yoga instructor explained everything in German and that some of the staff took for granted that we spoke German, which we do not! Granted, most of the guest were from Germany or Switzerland, but if the Surya Beach want other nationalities to come to the hotel, they have to approach all guests in a neutral language. And English is the language which is widely spoken i Sri Lanka - not German.
Also, the WiFi was "up and down"and did not work at all times in the room, but in the lobby the connection was usually good.
