If you are a lover of nature, heritage and a calm holiday or weekend, Rain Country Resort is the best place I would say. Surrounded by the green and misty hills of Western Ghats, the resort is located very near to Vythiri and can be accessed with your car (I personally drove) or a hired jeep or taxi. One of the best and unique features of Rain Country is the presence of a natural pond inside the premises, unlike any other resorts in Wayanad. Also, a natural stream, originating from the forest, runs through the property. If you like short morning trekking, you can trek to the top of the hill, that is also inside the property. The view of raising the sun from the misty hills is an amazing view that you will never forget. 360-degree view of green hills and clouds from the top point is mind-blowing. Coming to the cottages, they are constructed in a traditional Kerala style, mostly with wood. The hospitality team including housekeeping, guest service, room service, restaurant, etc. Were very helpful and their service was excellent. So just like the name of the property- Rain Country, visit the property to enjoy the monsoon rains, heritage, and nature.

This place is in the interior of the Wayanad jungle, which makes it quite a drive from main road. But the hotel staff is very generous, they offer to pick you up from airport/ railway station. Once you reach there, its a heavenly place to be in. They have luxurious comfortable villas for families and couples. There is also a natural pool inside the place. Food is traditional Kerela food. They also have a game zone and garden for kids. Once you are in this place, there is literally no need to leave it,they have all facilities inside and you can just stay there for a week or so. A perfect getaway from city madness and totally in nature's lap. Must visit.

Its a very earthy, homely and friendly resorts. Experience a slice of kerala in this eco friendly resort. The rooms are scattered and are not in one level- this may be taken into account for people with mobility issues otherwise the resorts is at its best during Monsoons and food is authentically regional.

The trip to the resort is through an off road midst forest just after the wayanad churam. You can spot one or two monkeys on the way. Some part of the road is through tea plantation. The road by itself is a great experience. I took a wooden cottage with a stream flowing nearby.The whole place has a old country feel which was a quite experience.Kids play area. Recreation place.Awesome hospitality

We went there with family for 2 nights and 3 days. It is wonderful place. Location is beautiful. Reaching the resort needs a drive of around 4 kms on a very tricky road. You need to be a expert driver. Rooms are very well maintained and staff are really good, polite, helpful and efficient. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the resort itself and it is decent and value for money. We had a very good time and also had a good time. Be careful with leaches in the resort. Make sure that you cary first aid.

I visited this place this pooja weekend. it was a long drive from Bangalore among long holiday traffic. I was aware that there is a 4 km mountain trek to reach the resort from the highway. But i didn't that would be too hard. i am gonna give a little more on the link road as it might be useful for other travellers to decide whether to climb using their vehicle or resort's jeep. The 4 km stretch is a very dangerous one and at the same time very enjoyable too. if you have a vehicle with good ground clearance, you can enjoy. Most of the road is filled with mud and stones. When it rains, it is even difficult. it is a very narrow road in most of the part. Some ups and downs will seriously test your suspension. My suspension arm was badly damaged. You can park your vehicle at a hotel in the highway and use resort's jeep to reach the place. So you can decide. Now the resort part. What a fantastic place to be there. Felt like stayed in a jungle. Surrounded by mountains and trees will make you feel awesome. You can always hear the sound of the river stream running inside. The room is decent. I stayed in a cottage room which had two single beds. Food is decent but they serve only buffet. Breakfast cost is 250 rs per person which is very decent but the dinner cost is 500 rs which i feel is little on the higher side. The management is brilliant there. They listen to each of your requests and try to satisfy us as much as possible. Great service. Overall apart from the 4 km trek to reach the place, this is one of the best places in wayanad and i will surely visit again.,

I stayed here from 30/09/2017 to 02/09/2017 and must admit it was one of the best experiences I had in any resort or hotel for me. The first and the most striking thing about this resort is it's seclusion from crowd. You drive through the narrow hill path for a stretch of around 2.5 KM covered with myst and low visibility to reach a place which makes you instantly say "wow". You hardly find anything unnatural here, natural pond and location of each cottage is just awesome. You will get tired of taking photographs but still there will be scope for more. Staff is very supportive and well behaved, especially Mr. Devanand, who was around listening and talking to the guests and solving issues. Food was good. Last but not the least, this place is ideal for those seeking refuge in nature away from daily drills, not for those who are looking for some cheap guesthouse to pass a day or two. It's a nature lovers paradise.

This is very nice place to spend a weekend away from the city life. We enjoyed the peace and the tranquility amidst the nature. I would love to visit this place atleast once in a year. The wooden cottages are amazing and you dont need to ask for anything as everything is already arranged for you. The service is good. They need to work on the variety of food. Devanand was supercool and helped us a lot. He also has a lot of knowledge about the place. I was a complete nostalgic experience. 100% refer this place. Loved it.

Superb location except for the last 3.5 kms drive up the hill on a muddy adventurous road... typical kerala house cottages... very scenic... classy atmosphere and a very hospitable manager Mr.Devanand. Ask him for anything and he 'll see to it that there is no " NO " for an answer.... The restaurant is good and the snacks are amazing... Dinner at the restaurant was not up to the mark but we were told that the chef was on leave during our stay and that's the reason for the "not so much tasty food !!" A piece of advice for those who are self- driving... The roads are narrow so be careful but once you climb up you gain confidence... So drive very slowly because your car will literally jump because of the bumps... Ours did... though it was a Scorpio...

Set high in the mountains amongst the tea and coffee plantations, this is a beautiful serene place to relax. The area is so peaceful, spoilt only by the birds, crickets and frog calls. Accommodation is good, being lovely wooden lodges, though I found the beds a little uncomfortable, but did not let this spoil the stay. Whilst walking in and around the resort, keep eyes peeled at all times, as you are in the wild and there are many types of snake (venomous) that live here, after all, this was their home before we came along. This said, we only discovered one, approx 10 " in size, but left well alone, that same day though, two of the staff came across a 6ft plus Cobra, so be careful. Of the staff, I cannot fault them. Polite, courteous, friendly and their service is second to none. Their prepared foods were also excellent. Well done to all at the resort David and Heather Stingmore

I was with my family. Though its kinda risky to reach this place, but once u reach their its all heaven, when u wake up early in the morning u realise that you are just amidst a forest. Its all beauty of forest, the rain waters flowing through the forests. The rushing of water is soothing. The cottages we were staying in were very comfortable, very huge and bathrooms were very clean. The staff is very helpful and down to earth. We received guidance at all points of time. Coming to the food, I must say they have the best cooks. Though we had both non-veg and veg, dal fry was the highlight. And the morning breakfast was very yummy too. I must say they have really made beautiful resorts amidst the forest. Just would wish the route gets better, rest I think the resort area was very beautiful. We can even go trekking from this resort, and the view point will give you a glimpse of wayanad and its beauty.

We loved this place and the natural greenary, dense forest around this place. The country road towards the property itself is a treat for eyes and drivers testimonial for his skills. Food served is good and staff is highly helpful, The only area where team can improve is proper maintenance like Geysers workings etc & card payment.

We stayed here for 2 days. The views of this resorts are just breathtaking. The cottages are wooden and are Traditional Kerala architecture. Very pleasant staff. Amazing locations to visit nearby like Banasura dam (30 kms), Muthanga forest safari etc. The food can be better but ignorable considering the pristine beauty you get. Joseph who heads the facility is a very helpful guy who helps you with all the planning. I have stayed in other resorts in Waynad, I will put this on top just because of the good stay and great views

The best ever resort we have stayed till date. The location itself is wonderful. The resort is too good, rooms are made of wood, very spacious, neat & clean. Room service was good. Food was very tasty & fresh.

We had a wonderful experience at the Rain country resorts at Wayanad. We stayed at their honeymoon cottage . The room was quite good and had beautiful view. The place is very quite and you can enjoy nature's beauty here.The food was also quite good.

Its a truly value for money resort. The best for someone who loves nature. Its location is amazing & the service is superb. The people at the resort treated us as family & took good care of us throuout our stay. The food was amazing. There are so many indoor games along with a natural pool. However, during our stay it rained & we encountered few leeches sticking to our legs. Apart from that the whole experience was amazing. The manager, Mr. Devanand was very friendly & was always keen to show us some nice scenery around also giving information on the vegetation & resort. The cottages are completely madeup of wood with a typical architecture which you would fall in love with. All the cottages are at a distance from each other giving sufficient privacy. There are ducks roaming around near the lake. All in all, the experience was superb. I would strongly recommend this resort for family & friends.

One of the oldest resorts in Wayanad, bit difficult to reach from the Highway. you have to travel about 4 Kms through a forest path. If you have a 4WD, then perfect. If you are on car, go slow. The ambience is excellent. Better to go in a group as during weekdays there wont be any one around. However, the staff are courteous and helpful. Rest Assured. Rooms are clean but can be damp at times due to the weather. If you have kids, keep an eye on them as the terrain is not really child friendly. No set menus in the restaurant, they pretty much make anything you ask for.

I have been to RainCountry umpteen number of times... very pleasurable. i plan my trip via Plantinum Stays. Brilliant hospitality. Always recommend this place. Food is amazing....really like the natural pool. I had done walkin lunch at times and they are more than willing to accommodate their customers irrespective of how tight they are... I have built a great respect for them. Kudos.... place to be. Good Luck

I visited the resort during Dussera in Oct 2015 with my wife and son and it turned out to be an excellent decision. I booked it through goibibo. Number one point is the location. Some people may look for nice tarred roads....but i think the best part i liked was the remote location of the resort in a forest isolated from the Kalpeta-Caliclut highway by a 3km rough unprepared road adding to the rawness of the place. Lush green and sereen property spread across a vast area. The huts are elegantly staggered toensure privacy. You can trek to a good view point top giving u a 360 deg view of the misty hilly jungles around. Superb. The way to the restaurant is over small bridge underneath which a beautiful natural water fall and stream flows...excellent place for some good shots. There is a smartly made natural pool for swimming with a continuously replenished water from a water stream which then passes nlike a small fall next your hut creating soothing sounds. There is a lot of clear place around to play cricket, football and badminton. Indoor games also available. If going on trek, a little care is needed about the leeches. Food was without doubt very good. The Chef Mr. Sunil took personal care about likings of individual guests and kept a very close watch on the guest requirements as when required. Cherry on the cake was the decent price and a very very courteous, professional and helpful staff. In fact, i must mention an incident when I forgot my expensive Tripod in some area on my visit to Edekkal Caves almost 30 km from the resort. I contacted the resorts Operations manager Mr Shenesh for any help if he can extend. He immediately called his contacts in the area and confirmed me back that the tripod is located and safe which I could collect later. The other staff members Mr. Joseph, Manager and Mr. Sukesh, Restaurant Captain were very humble and attentive. Altogether a very very memorable stay. We returned with a strong wish to visit the place again sometime.

The resort is immensely beautiful and must visit place specially for honeymooners. If you are self driving it's very thrill & exciting to reach the resort, u can feel ur sweet heart's touch before entering the resort.... Awesome wooden cottages, beautiful ambiance no disturbance from rest of the world. Good hospitality & tasty food.

I visited this resort from 2nd sept to 5th sept 2015. very good maintained and good location resort in between forest. only minus point is approach road from main road very bad. but resort people can't do anything as it is forest land. Food was very good. restaurant people were very helpful mainly shef Mr. Sunil and his assistant who served my requirements as my health was not well, my all special requests of food fulfilled.

We had a awesome experience when visited to Wayanad in July 2015. Everything about the Hotel was great. All hotel rooms was really excellent. Hotel Structure, Cottage System, Location, Room Service, Food & Climate of Wayanad all was amazing. The main thing is people are very trustworthy & co - operative. I can surely say that it was an excellent trip in my life. Very thanks to all hotel members who made our tour really amazing.

Good place to spent vacations. Resort is situated inside forest and small river flowing inside. Nice to hear the running sound of water in night. We stayed in riverside room. Bed coffee and Evening tea is provided in the room. Food was delicious. They arranged vehicle for sight seeing at extra cost.

Stayed at this place for 3 nights with my wife and teenage daughter. First impression the route (3.5 km) only from the main road seemed frightening as v pass thru Dense jungle and narrow paths. (I was driving a SUV). But on arrival it's like an oasis . This place is like a valley in a jungle with a natural lake, springs. Beautifull cottages, fruit trees, flowers, ITS BACK TO NATURE. BUT still you are well connected, super connectivity by phone. TV in all rooms with all channels. Food is heavenly. Hospitality is top notch. For three days I did not venture out of the resort. Had long healthy walks in the clouds which frequently descend here. Lazed around the lake. Fed the fishes and ducks. Total unwind. On the return realised that the road is not as bad I had thought earlier.
