Surf Berbere

My whole group is delighted with our stay in Surfberbere:) We are very impressed by the efficient organization and friendly service. The apartment we stayed in was just great and above our expectations. We find it very comfortable, spacious with an amazing view of the ocean. Surfing lessons were great. We felt very well in the company of our funny instructors. Some of us caught our first green waves!!! Yoga classes were wonderful set in roof tarace during the sunset- very good for sore muscles ?? All meals were delicious and always served with a smile. Big thanks to James, Houssain, Ilyas, Mohamed and Tarik - They definitely made our trip amazing!!! We all absolutely recommend this spot!!!

Fantastic holiday, can't wait to go back!! These guys make sure that everything is perfect from the guys at the camp to the guys that come to the beach, and the chefs prepare some of the best food I've ever had!

The staff here are excellent , I raised some feedback regarding things that could be improved and they replied to me with action of it within the day . The instructors are very chilled and yusef personally allowed me to chill out when I was getting frustrated on a very poor performance day from me . The cafe has large portions and reasonable prices and enough bread to make Jesus’s trick look pale . The meals on the packages can be a little repetitive if your staying for a while and you may want to maybe perhaps go on a pay as you go style but overall I would recommend the surf camp I just hope the sickness issues in the Taghazout area get resolved soon

The location is nice cause its so close to the water. So when you eat the really delicious breakfast you can see and hear the sea around you. The surf is good and the instructors do their best to help you to learn. Vegetarian meals are not so tasty but okey and give you energy to surf. The dorm is quite spacious and on the top floor but there is only one toilet/shower. You should really try the yoga. Even you haven't done it a lot before its just an experience you dont want to miss.

Big group of us stayed in the surf apartments right overlooking the ocean. The apartments were lovely, you could not be closer to the sea. Comfortable beds and beautiful moroccan interiors (but the apartments behind surf berbere where they put people when they are at capacity are a far cry from the other apartments). Waves around were amazing and surf instructors very good. AMAZING yoga!! best location for yoga on their rooftop terrace. Breakfast lunch and dinner with the camp were not the best, often lacking in flavour. Has to be said that in a big group of us, every single one of us was sick during the trip, some for up to 3 days. Not necessarily the camp’s fault as many other instances of people in Taghazout at different hotels being similarly ill, but definitely worth taking into consideration if you are planning a trip to Taghazout, as it really did ruin a perfectly good holiday. The community is apparently trying to combat this (dirty sea water, they say) as a lot of people would sadly not return after being ill like that.

This year I was part of a much smaller group than normal which in a way was better. 3 of us shared a flat in the Riad Taghazhout next door to the surfhouse. The breakfasts were filling and it is great having them on the terrace overlooking Hash Point. We had several guides during the week, all of whom were excellent - taking us to spots that suited our ability. This included a trip to Imousuanne. My boardbag didn't arrive in Agadir with me which meant I had to rent for 3 days but Surf Berbere helped me out with that and I shared a taxi to and from the airport when my bag arrived. The receipt I got for board and wettie rental was enough evidence for Easyjet to compensate me.

Overall I enjoyed my stay but I have to give an average rate. I come to Taghazout surf every year in the last four years and have stayed at various places, I know the area fairly well. The restaurant is probably my favourite, the breakfast is the best & packed lunch are well prepared, thumbs up to the restaurant manager, he's done a great job. On the other hand, the surf lessons are poorly: very slow start in the morning, nobody knows how many cars or people or boards to take, end up wait for 45 minutes to set off, then after two hours lessons the instructors will all hide in their vans smoke, when they turn up again it's time to pack up & finish the day. I had a friend she had her leash on her front foot for four days without any instructor's notice, she says "nobody bothers really teach, just stand on the beach whistling.

Accommodation basic but food good and plentiful. The were staff good and the instructors great we all were standing up within the week. The trip to paradise valley was well worth it stunning place. The driving in morocco is exciting in a bad way though

Stayed in Taghazout 3 days, did surfing, yoga and a massage during our stay. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing, and the team very friendly. With cool views from the apartment balcony we definitely enjoyed our stay. We stayed at Abdulah's Hideout, next to the surfcamp building above the cafe. Despite it being a large space, there was no WiFi and very limited hot water. Could definitely be improved in terms of amenities. The experience as a whole was very pleasant however.

An all round good experience. Friendly staff and a yummy breakfast. Average dinner but big portions on a beautiful terrace. The one thing that let this stay down was the open sewage outlet near the appartment. Obviously I know that it's not the camps fault in any way it just a meant that sitting out on the terrace was a little distracting. Other than that a no frills good time.

First time in Taghazout, first time with Surf Berbere, and we were delighted with the experience. We did the one-week surf camp, as complete surfing beginners, and the teaching was just awesome : all the teachers we had were really friendly, the instructions were clear, and we definitely caught the surfing bug throughout the week. Everything else is just as well thought out, and we found the food in particular to be amazingly good. Thanks Surf Berbere, see you soon for sure!

Just back from my 10th trip to Taghazout, 8th time with Surf Berbere. Another great week in the trusty hands of the Surf Berbere team. Big thanks to host (nothing is too much trouble to ask for) Rachel and guides/instructors Mohamed, Hussein and Zac. Stayed in ‘Cloud’ apartment with full on cooking facilities, ensuite shower and top wifi! Spent my 6 days touring the local spots with Mohamed and Hussein and the surf school at mellow beach breaks surfing clean green waves. All thanks to Mohamed and Hussein’s supreme local knowledge of winds, tides and general conditions. If there’s a wave, they’ll be on it. Evenings spent chilling out on the rooftop, bit of yoga, camp dinners and the odd visit to the village cafes and restaurants. On going issues with the water quality mean that it’s best not to surf Hash Point or Panoramas. Personally I prefer to surf north of Taghazout from Mysteries on wards or if southwards, Croco on wards. Food wise, I avoid salads and have always done so since I read an article before I ever went to Morocco. Those 2 rules work for me and much to my surf friends amusement/disdain, I stay well! To be fair to Surf Berbere, the water quality issue is out of their control but I do see improvements year on year and I know that the Surf Berbere team are proactive in nudging things along where and when ever they can. That said, if it’s sun and consistent waves you are after then Tagazout and Surf Berbere deliver. Great week.

We stayed here for two nights in February. The accomodation was quite basic, the room was small but on the other hand directly at the sea. Breakfast was really good, buffet including the usual bread, marmelade, coffee, but also cheese and eggs (which you dont get often in Morroco). The owner/manager and his personel were really relaxed, friendly and helpful. We liked it here but felt that the price (20 british pounds per person..) was much too high. As we didn't surf, the additionnal benefit of having a surfing school and an accomodation in one place was lost on us (but of course, surf lessons would have been an extra 200 Dh per day). All in all: Nice spot, but quite costy for what you get.

I have stayed at Surf Berbere twice in two months because I enjoyed the first week so much. The owner is easy to communicate with, hosts are really organised, the surf coaches are first class and the food is fresh and plentiful. I stayed in two of the Surf Berbere apartments which I prefer to the ones next door to the camp. They have amazing views of Taghazout and the surf break out front. Highly recommend a trip to Surf Berbere!

I went to surf Berbere with high expectations given the amazing rates on Trip Advisor..but I was quite disappointed! Location is good and atmosphere is nice...STILL the place is not clean and 'fresh' and the cleaning lady just change the toilet paper w/out properly cleaning the rooms and the common places...on top around there are some Morocco-style sofa and furniture but they are old and humid..not too nice to chill out... Surf classes were good, nice waves and nice instructor...amazing and typical dinners...yoga classes were also very good but took place in another surf camp close to Berbere (this one very clean and nicely furnished)...hope things will go back to original 4 stars conditions..

Amazing - absolute novices at surfing and our instructor was patient and a really great instructor. At the end of the morning we could surf - albeit no more than 20 secs. A great service - came to pick us up from the hotel and dropped us off at the end. Would definitely recommend this for any level of surfing. Thank you James and Hussain our instructor ??

Couldn't recommend enough if you are looking for a relaxing week by the sea, learning to surf and practising yoga! All the teachers and hosts are lovely and couldn't have been more welcoming to us. We will be back. Excellent value and a truly magical place.

I stayed in another’s hostel but it was quiet empty in Taghazout during Ramadan. Surf Berbere gave me shelter and gave me a lot of new friends! The hostel is clean, in Moroccan style and with a beautiful view at the ocean. I stayed for 8 days and everyday was wonderful. We surfed in the morning, went to the beach to have a served lunch and surfed a bit again. Then we went back to do some nice yoga at the rooftop terrace and we had a delicious dinner afterwards at the rooftop around the corner. Everyday was planned really well so we had enough to do during the days. The staff was super friendly and funny. Their English is really good so it is nice to have someone who knows what he’s talking about. I really recommend this place because of the friendly staff and the best surf teachers of Taghazout!

to drin tea and watching the sun go down or eating breakfast and see the sunrice is a must to do in this plce. I love Taghazout but this coffee place is a must in taghazout. berakfast for just 3 euro including tea or cofee and a lot of food. DO NOT MISS IT

Lovely outing, well organised, instructor was great, really improved our technique and we learned a few new things. Tasty lunch too. Waves are unpredictable so you might have to travel and wait for the right moment but if you are a beginner then just grab the board and head in and have fun in the white water surf!!
