My comments echo those of the other reviewers - Feathered Pipe ranch is a wonderful, peaceful oasis and an ideal setting for a yoga retreat. The grounds are beautiful, full of wildflowers and streams. The staff members are lovely, friendly and helpful. My room was comfortable and the meals were very good. The asana room is well equipped and the teacher was stellar. I highly recommend a week (or two!) to recharge. Also, if you can't bear to unplug, the Ranch has upgraded its wifi, which works quite well.

The most magical place on earth. I have been lucky enough to spend a glorious week the past two summers at The Feathered Pipe Ranch. From the staff, the accommodations, the retreats, the land, the lodge, the community, everything is perfect and will always hold the most special place in my heart. If you are looking for a rejuvenating, invigorating, mind altering experience then this is the place for you. I have only been gone three days and I’m already planning my return visit next summer. If you want the most epic vacation and yoga retreat center, Feathered Pipe Ranch is the place for you. Thank you to Eric, Winter, both Mike’s in the kitchen, Anne and all else I didn’t mention for bringing me so much joy and love.

Just such a special, special place. Such a beautiful setting for the beautiful work they are doing there. You can just feel the work and love put into every moment when you are there. I will 100% be returning!

Just returned from a fabulous week at the ranch. It was my third consecutive summer at the ranch. Our teacher, Nat Kendall taught us two hours every morning and two hours every afternoon. In between classes we had time to chat with new friends, swim in the small lake, canoe or kayak, keep a journal. There is a little library with a terrific selection of yoga reading material. We began the day with quiet sitting meditation and this was followed by mantra, pranayama, body scan, chanting and asana. Nat is a gifted musician and he provided a comfortable and encouraging environment in which everyone could share their voices to participate in chanting. Our voices blended daily as we practised a different chant each day accompanied by the drum and harmonium. Nat had a few teachers assisting him so every yogi had ample support as required in the multi-level classes. Each day there was something new and creative to keep our interest piqued! Nat has a special gift for making sure every participant feels included. If you travel singly, no worry. You will make many new friends in a short amount of time. The ranch has a variety of accommodations. You can sleep in a tent or a yurt. There is a modern bathhouse for those staying in tents or yurts. You can stay indoors in the lodge or the chalet. My room was in the chalet with a private bath. It was clean and comfortable with ample towels. Three nutritious meals full of healthy, fresh, organic fruits and vegetables kept us well fed. We loved the brownies for dessert. Special diets can be arranged with the kitchen staff. We had a great time roasting marshmallows over an open fire one evening. The staff is exemplary. All staff will work hard to make sure your every need is looked after. If you book the ranch shuttle you will be met the airport. I hope you decide to check out the online schedule on the Feathered Pipe website. Pick any program! They are all amazing. Top notch teachers will make your yoga experience inspiring and insightful. You will be surrounded by the beauty of nature everywhere you look. Your hosts will make you immediately feel right at home. Hospitality is warm, thoughtful and generous.

What a magical place! Fabulous food, friendly staff, wonderful yoga and meditation, or just hanging out making friends with my fellow yogis. A great balance between simple accommodations (but with all the modern conveniences) and enjoying the majestic and breathtaking beauty of the mountains, flora and fauna, and for me the shimmering reflection of the teepee across the lake from the main Lodge. Tremendous massage therapists are another treat available. I have spent three week-long yoga retreats with the Veterans Yoga Project at Feathered Pipe Ranch - 2014, 2017, and September 2018. I can't wait for next year.

The setting is gorgeous, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the chefs are the best, the accommodations are simple and quite comfortable...There are plentiful trails for hiking or, if you prefer, you can sit by the lake and relax. This is a great place to get away from it all.

Words or pictures could never truly describe the beauty of this experience, the healing energy and stunning location are beyond magical. I recently attended a week-long retreat at the Feathered Pipe Ranch. Without a doubt, this experience was one of the most enjoyable and transformational of my life. A beautiful property nestled in one of the country's largest National Forests, the Feathered Pipe offers magnificent vistas, exciting and educational programs, fantastic and varied food, tremendous massage therapists and a very friendly and caring staff. I look forward to returning for another week of tranquility at this one-of-a kind, world-class yoga retreat!

The grounds are well-tended and the surrounding aspens offer a sweet symphony of applause, as if to say "congratulations, you came to the right place." Your biological rhythms will be reset here. My group was lucky enough to experience the sweat lodge with a very knowledgeable and reassuring guide—something I'll never forget. By the end of my retreat, I was thoroughly, blissfully slowed down. The high-ceilinged main lodge where the classes happen is the beating heart of the ranch. It has a couple of intriguing nooks filled with books, and a panoramic view of the lake. On my last day, I lovingly walked the room's perimeter. I didn't want to leave. Ultimately, though, being at the ranch with the other retreatants creates the magic. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts here, but even so, just the parts are damn good. The only downside: the food is so delicious and plentiful, I didn't lose any weight. Apparently the retreat I joined set an all-time record for most food consumed!

The Feathered Pipe Ranch is a beautiful and quiet yoga retreat, surrounded by National Forests, and about 10 miles from Helena, Montana. During the summer, the ranch offers a different yoga program each week. I attended the Mindful Unplug session, and the experience was far beyond my expectations. The structured program included morning yoga sessions and late afternoon sensory exploration, but there was so much more: guided hikes, music to relax by in the evening, and the mid-afternoon on our own to enjoy all that the ranch has to offer. The place is fabulous: the food is delicious and varied, and the staff are friendly and kind. Accommodations range from teepees, tents, and yurts, to indoor rooms with a shared-bath or a private-bath. The ranch has a sauna, whirlpool, hiking trails, a small lake, and a wide grassy lawn to relax on. Two massage therapists are available, and there is a small library with a range of books and a beautiful view. As so many reviewers have said, the place is magical – you will return home with wonderful memories and a sense of peace.

I often wonder when people say ‘magical’ - what does that mean. I now know. It is that feeling you can’t really describe - it is special- it communicates with your soul. I just got back from a fabulous retreat with Judith Lasater at this wonderful location and have so much respect for the wonderful staff and the people who make this a truly magical experience. Just came back from a week of yoga at Feathered Pipe Ranch. It was a fabulous experience. The ranch is absolutely fantastic - remote, peaceful, sweet air and just plain beautiful. The people working there are just as wonderful -- accommodating and welcoming. It's like going to the best summer camp you can imagine. I can't imagine a better place for yoga - or anything else. Btw, the food is also great.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about FPR and its people! It is truly a unique and special place. The setting is gorgeous, and encourages instant relaxation and Winter and Staff go above and beyond in terms of their kindness and spectacular attention to detail. The Staff work extremely hard to ensure their guests are fully content and they do so with a smile. The Ranch has wonderful amenities such as a lake with boats to use, a bathhouse with hot tub and sauna and on site massage therapists, as well as beautiful ground to go hiking. The food is colorful, yummy and plentiful! This is the perfect getaway and you will fall in love with it. I highly recommend!

Magical place. Crystal lake. Fairytale blue dragonflies flying at its surface. Clean air and the purest water. Gourmet food, healthy organic, nutritious and delicious; this includes pampering deserts. The most helpful, friendly and wonderful staff one can dream of! Everything inviting to rest, relax and let go. If perfection exists - this is where it can be found.

I just returned from a wonderful weeklong yoga retreat led by Carie Garret at Feathered Pipe Ranch near Helena, Montana. It was a wonderful experience and I have already signed up for 2018 when she returns August 18-25. She is taking over the slot for a freedom-style yoga retreat at the ranch that was long led by Erich Schiffmann until he retired last year. For those who don’t know her yet, Carie with the long-red hair was a long-time assistant of Erich’s freedom yoga style. To say she is filling his shoes would be trite because while she remains loyal to the principles of freedom yoga, she is going steps further by adapting freedom-style yoga to a unique and refreshing style that is all her own. In contrast to the more cerebral emphasis of Schiffmann, Garret seems more focused on the heart and emotional aspects of yoga. For example, she is a devotee to Bhakti yoga, a branch of yoga more oriented to expression through singing, dancing, and other artistic forms. Most yoga studios don’t offer Bhakti classes so yogis have few opportunities to sample the Bhakti experience. Carie is also emphasizing a freedom form of hatha yoga that gets away from some of the old techniques that other yogis drone on about that actually create stress rather than bring peace. She has created some of her own poses and sequences. For example, I remember “pigeonish” which is a way for people with tight hips to get the benefit of pigeon without the strain. Another pose is “running dog” that is an interesting variation of down dog. I have a tough time with balance poses but she did a sequence that brought me to a brief instance of dancer’s pose. In addition to the mediation, some discussion and standard asana of the morning, each afternoon we had a session of freeform. This involves turning on music for about an hour in which you do any poses—existing or self-created--in any way that the spirit and music moves you. During one free-form session, interested yogis even had a change to draw mandelas which was a popular group activity. Although I lack any artistic skill, I found the mandela a very cathartic activity. Don’t worry about the day being too busy to relax. There is ample time between the morning and late afternoon sessions to hike, boat on the lake, get massages, or my favorite activity take a nap. Some group members even led a yoga nidra session after class one day. A highlight of the week for me was the way Carie blended in story-telling with a dramatic flair. One tale in particular was the fascinating legend of the monkey god, Hanuman. These are some stories only some teacher trainees learn, but after that enthralling tale I now understand why splits are called the Hanumasana. Carie was very much a part of our group activities. Sometimes after dinner she led many of us to hike up to a scenic overlook over the ranch that also has a view of the continental divide. The sunsets there are spectacular. Often a group of us yogis line up on the ridge and have a picture of us in sundry poses. Of course, this whole week had the lovely Feathered Pipe Ranch as a backdrop. The accommodations can suit all tastes from lodge, to yurt, to tipi, to tents. As usual the food was scrumptious and varied. There were many options for vegans and those with restricted diets, but the carnivores had their shot. We circled the world on our bellies with Thai, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, etc.

Feathered Pipe Ranch is surrounded by mountains, forests, wildflowers and open skies. You will be so pleased with yourself for making the journey. The staff takes care to ensure you have a joyful time.

Tranquil place that serves up great healthy organic scrumptious food (GF, DF, Vegan options). The folks on the ranch go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Yoga & wellness retreat (Mindful Unplug) had just the right balance of free time, class time & social time. Trails provide a good cardio hike and amazing MT mountain views. There is a lake for rowing, swimming & kayaking.

Feathered Pipe Ranch is heaven on earth!! The food was wonderful!! The rooms were comfy, cozy and clean. The staff was over the top accommodating! It's the perfect environment for learning and absorbing. Warning: You might feel homesick when you leave.

Everything about this facility is top notch. Friendly staff, clean rooms, A-MAZ-ING food, and the most beautiful location. Nestled alongside the national forest, the FPR provides a beautiful backdrop for any event. Retreat, workshop, gathering; the FPR will make for a memorable time.
