Wellwood Health is made up of three buildings. The Main Log Cabin is where Wellwoods kitchen and market are located. This space is extremely homely and many clients enjoy relaxing and unwinding in front of the cabin fire. You will also find the Pilates room located within the Main Log Cabin. The Cabin Hall is where all the group classes occur such as Yoga, Pilates Mat & Pole, Pole Fitness, The Jungle Body and HiiT. This large hall has beautiful artwork on the walls from rotating local artists, for everyone to enjoy. The cabin hall also has its very own ‘mellow patio’ where clients can meet and relax with friends before or after class. The third and final cabin that makes up Wellwood health, is known as the Wellwood Suites – occupied by a community of professionals, where clients can access Acupuncture, Massage, Bowen Therapy, a Beauty Therapist, Counsellor, Naturopath and two floatation tanks. Owner and Director Lucy Willis Cowley, has been in the fitness industry for several years and discovered that people’s health is not confined to just exercise and healthy eating. Lucy has always felt that this narrowly focused method, inhibited a large number of people from even trying to get healthier, as they didn’t fit the profile of the typical gym member. Experience had shown her that just eating a strict diet or subjecting oneself to sweating long hours in an industrial style environment of an impersonal gym wasn’t achieving life-changing results in the majority of people. As the experts now tell us – optimal health is a multi-faceted regime compromising of physical fitness, eating natural foods, social connectivity and spirituality. Lucy had a vision to offer help and guidance in all these areas and along with her husband, together they have developed a unique and tranquil facility that can offer all these elements in the one place. “I see clients come in initially to join a Pilates class and immediately sense a gentler, more intimate family atmosphere here, where they can relax and unwind after class in the homely setting. Not only can you exercise whilst stimulating your mind with walls hung with talented pieces of artwork, but also after class you can unwind with a freshly squeezed juice in a comfortable lounge chair, before a warm fireâ€. Yoga Vinyasa Vinyasa yoga is movement synchronized to the breath with each pose moving into the next in a smooth flow. When attending this class you can expect movement and strengthening- not just stretching, with some time at the end for some relaxing meditation. Hatha Hatha is a gentle and basic yoga class that focuses on slower-paced stretching with some basic pranayama breathing exercises as well as incorporated meditation practice throughout. This class is a good place to learn beginners poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with Yoga. Yin Yin Yoga works on the deep tissues of the body with relaxed muscles and breath work while holding poses for 3-5 min. The many benefits of Yin Yoga are an increase in flexibility & energy flow, decrease joint stiffness, alleviate back & hip pain, improve sleep, relieve stress and help to quieten your mind & find inner peace.
