Pilates

Pilates is a physical fitness system created in the 20th century by a German physical trainer Joseph Hubertus Pilates. It is a low impact form of exercise which is designed to reduce risk of injury, improve breathing, strengthen muscles, improving postural alignment and flexibility. There are two different types of pilates classes mat pilates and reformer pilates, mat pilates is conducted on a mat which is very similar to the yoga mat just a tad thicker for more protection and reformer pilates classes are done on a machine called the Reformer which consists of a sliding platform, a stationary foot bar, resistance springs and pulleys.
