Amaroo Retreat is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Paul and Emma Rashleigh. Originally from England, they moved to Australia over 20 years ago for a different lifestyle and settled in the Perth Hills. It didn’t take long for them to realise how blessed and privileged they are to call Perth, and particularly the Hills region home.
The idea for a retreat began blossoming after a much needed holiday to South East Asia. Paul was going through a challenging time, and by stepping away from his everyday stresses here in Perth, he was able to look at life through a completely new perspective. Upon returning home, he felt rejuvenated, recharged and ready to take on the world; that’s when the decision for a retreat really came to fruition. Paul came to the realisation that other people may be going through similar down turns in their life however, they may not have the means to travel overseas or domestically to take time out for themselves. By creating a place within driving distance of the Perth CBD, he knew he would be able to help other people de-stress and relax their mind, body and spirit without being too far from home.
This is when Amaroo was born.
Once the right location was found, with the assistance from a team of local tradesmen, Paul started the design and building processes. The name Amaroo wasn’t chosen until halfway through construction when Paul decided he wanted to pay his respects to the original land custodians, the Aboriginal people. The name Amaroo translates to ”a beautiful place” in the Aboriginal language and this one word truly tied together the vision of what Paul wanted the retreat to be.
Tranquillity, peace, serenity and relaxation are the only things you need to focus on when you come to Amaroo, we’ll take care of the rest.
