I really wasn't expecting to go here more than once. I went along to my first class on a buddy pass given to me by a work colleague. I was feeling pretty fed up because I've had to take a break from my main hobby running because of knee problems. I feel quite self-conscious about my body and about myself in general; about some aspects of how I look, and how I move (probably why I've never taken up dancing!). I thought this would be worse; wearing very little in a room full of mirrors, but the opposite has been true. Right from the first minute, the atmosphere is so welcoming, and I've felt completely accepted. No need to compare myself with anybody else. The teachers are all so encouraging and knowledgeable, and all through the class they give you such clear and constant instructions that it's easy to know what's expected. Also, nothing is forced, so if it's too much you don't have to do it. Another thing I like with the hot yoga is that it's the same positions each time, so you can feel it when you make slight improvements from one time to the next. The other people who attend the classes are very supportive, and no-one ever makes you feel inferior if you're not as advanced as they are. As well as the running injury, I also have lower back pain and arthritis in my joints. Obviously nothing is an instant miracle cure, but since I started going I feel better in myself, I'm sleeping much more deeply, and I feel better rested the day following the classes. I've been to five classes so far, and I hope to keep going for the forseeable future.
