Handling first pregnancy/delivery/postpartum in a foreign country as a couple with no other physical support can be a life changing experience. With strict lockdowns and travel restrictions across the globe, we couldn’t have my mom travel to my place and hence we started looking for pregnancy courses online to equip ourselves better. Most of the acquaintances referred a popular brand but I was skeptical owing to the number of persons the trainer had per session and also personal attention was a question mark. That is when I came across “UTSAV” a growing brand with great reviews and also pocket friendly. During my first interaction with Amba mam, I found her to be a trained professional (Doula/Lactation Consultant/Physiotherapist) which made us feel in safe hands. I attended both early pregnancy and labour management courses (including infant care, breast-feeding and a whole bunch of other useful information) despite living in a different timezone. The best part of UTSAV courses is that, Amba also involves the partner in some activities which makes them feel more responsible. The classes are designed at a medium pace with a good mix of scientific facts and practical demonstrations. Since the classes have limited audience, personal attention is very much guaranteed. I am pretty sure that, there are not many instructors who collect the scan reports of mother and check entire medical history before recommending exercises. Amba also dedicated one part of the session ( spread across 2 weekends) to verify if we did the exercises in the right way. She also encouraged us to watch labour videos to get rid of the inner fear about the pain. I regularly followed all her advises which helped me enjoy a very healthy pregnancy. When I entered into labour, I also got support from her through WhatsApp and she kept sending lot of positive vibes. During labour, I followed all her techniques which were really a life saviour. I had taken my notes along to the hospital and the doctors were so surprised to see that I knew so much about labour and postpartum.
Not just for the labour, she also supported us a lot during postpartum and helped clarifying doubts as soon as possible. Now my little angel is 5 months old and I also attended the AnnaPrasanam workshop for introducing solids to her after 180 days which was also a great knowledge boost.
Myself and my entire family are so grateful to Amba mam for all her help and support. Without UTSAV, my pregnancy/labour/postpartum experience could have been a nightmare in a foreign land.
