I have just returned to Spain, having just spent a fantastic month in Goa (Agonda Beach), attending the Aithein Ayurveda Massage School. After a few years at a cross roads, and having a Heart Attack in June 2018, I awoke one morning full of life and decided to enrol in a massage course, something I have always wanted to do. And reading the reviews online, decided that this School was for me. The last time I was sat behind a wooden desk writing in an exercise book was 42 years ago - it was a shock, however you are never too old to learn. The very learned Gagori was our teacher and mentor - she was: fantastic, very knowledgable, incredibly perceptive, tender and compassionate - superlative in every way. She knew how to get the best out of everyone, knowing all of our strengths and weaknesses, she was an inspiration to us all.
The theory of Ayurveda is very complex and a assault on the brain cells which were trying to digest all of this knowledge. On day two, Gagori said to me “you will understand by the end of the course, and you will not get on that plane until you know itâ€. We undertook numerous massages (20 I think) we were expertly taught, and due to the repetition and numerous practices, some of them became second nature.
It’s a lot to take in during the four weeks (including homework), but very very rewarding. I was not prepared for the emotional side of the course, but I came away from the course: more aware of ME and my feelings, confident in massage, and an ‘understanding’ of Ayurdeva, but with a yearning to know more. So much so, I have re-enrolled to come back for the 3 week healing course.
I got on that plane, as promised by Gagori. Xxxx. I cannot recommend this school highly enough. Looking forward to returning in February 2020. Om shanti, Om shanti, Om shanti ðŸ™
