I just completed my 300-Hour Teacher Training (Sep 2018) at AYM. I put a lot of time and effort into researching which yoga school I should attend, and I was drawn to AYM and Rishikesh. I thought I had researched and read just about everything I could about the school, but there was something I wasn’t aware of. We had a different teacher who specialized in each subject; meditation, pranayama, philosophy, yoga therapy and asana. The teachers; Rohit, Sandeep, Summit, Bhanu, Jaya & Mahesh, exceeded my expectations of a 300-hour yoga teacher training. The quality of teaching and content covered by each of the teachers, and the standards set by the school is like no other training I have experienced before. To wrap up this review, I’ll add that the food was fresh, seasonal and tasty. The AYM staff will welcome you and do their best to make you comfortable (but remember you decided to go to India so respect that). I opted for a private room, which included a private bathroom with hot water. While everyone has hot water there are regular power cuts, so sometimes there wasn’t time for the boiler to heat up. You keep your own room clean, like you keep the yoga studio clean (think karma yoga). You have access to laundry facility so you can wash your clothes and bedding as you wish. The wifi started working in my room after the second week, then it worked well unless there was a power cut. I rested well, practiced well, and got to share my training with a great group. Had a really nice time here in AYM, the staff were super friendly, spoke great English, food was really good ( I never felt hungry or the desire to eat out ), I improved in flexibility all round over the course, and can now perform the SCORPION Asana as well as hold a handstand for much longer :)

I came to Rishikesh to develop my understandings of Yoga and Pranayama, to come to the source of the Yogic knowledge and expand and share this knowledge in Sydney, Australia. Violet Flames is a holistic health partnership consisting of James Ward-Collins and Bella Fuego, and combined their knowledge stems from; Qi Gong, Yoga, Sound Healing and Fire Ceremony! After having compelted the course, the knowledge on pranayama has opened up massive pathways which overflow to that of Qi Gong and it is beautiful to see the two artforms converge. On top of this , the training at AYM has opened up James to many new understandings of alignment, balance, and techniques to maximise the benefits of asanas!
