I had a real pleasure to stay at Abhayaranya yoga village in October of 2017 right after it was built. I was a part of the very first group that they had after opening their doors to the guests. I’m very satisfied with my stay there. Being in such serene, peaceful place up in the mountains, away from all the noice and pollution of the city made me feel present, connected, and joyful..
The mules cared our bags to the village so we could hike up there with empty hands. It was such an unexpected surprise. I was prepared to carry my backpack on my own, since I didn’t know there was any other way.
After we arrived they had a healthy lunch prepared for us by a genuine, kind cook that didn’t speak any English, but the energy he was vibrating was very good and positive. All the meals there were incredible! I couldn’t have enough. They cook on coals, so the food has a smoky flavor to it that was so delusions and perfect for being in nature, rather than having the food cooked on an electric stove.
Their cottages have all the necessary amenities, hot water, new high quality appliances, comfortable beds, white cotton sheets, and warm blankets.
I really enjoyed the view from my cottage that was facing the mountains. There was WiFi that didn’t work well, which is a good thing. Getting away from civilization and your electronic devises is really needed in our lives from time to time. But I was still able to find some connection and get in touch with my family.
Our yoga instructor Himanshu was truly amazing and charming. He did such a good job teaching us. I have to admit, it was hard even for an experienced yogi like me. But he followed our requests for a more gentle yoga after we felt like our bodies needed some rest. His adjustment were so perfect. I definately miss that in my self practice.
And I have to mention our wonderful Ayurvedic doctor, Dr Das, who gave us his undivided attention, his knowledge, his wisdom, and treated us with good care and kindness. All of his stuff is very hard-working, respectful, and talented. They realined my body and put everything back in its place :) I was amazed with their treatment.
We were staying there during Diwali. Roshan organized such a memorable puja for us. I will never forget this beautiful experience.
We had a chance to plant the plants along with Roshan which was so good. Connecting with nature, with Roshan, and leaving my footprint was very special.
Thank you for such a hard work off all the people that created this sastainable yoga village for us to enjoy. And I’m very grateful for the mules, who sacrificed their health, and worked so hard to bring the cement, and everything else that was nessesary for this place to be built.
I highly recommend this experience to everyone looking for peace, outstanding food, hikes in the mountains, yoga, and connection with the self.
I can’t wait to return!
