The Ultimate Escape Tucked into the verdant jungle, high on the jagged cliffs towering over Southwest Bali’s world-famous waves, is the definition of surfer’s paradise: Uluwatu Surf Villas. Blessed with private access to the sand and surf, it’s the place where active soulful pursuits meet Bali’s singular mysticism and warm hospitality. Premium villas, bungalows and loft accommodations—hand-built with reclaimed teak and ironwood, plus Balinese artisan-crafted decor and antiques—are idyllic windows to a magical world where sublime vistas meet fresh, refined cuisine and cocktails. Expect beautiful days spent seeking barrels, flowing in the yoga shala, drawing in aromas of incensed air, soaking up golden vistas, and delving into the local culture. An inspiring, rebalancing retreat for those who believe true luxury is all about soul. The Origin Story In 1971, surf film legend Alby Falzon directed the instant classic Morning of the Earth, illuminating Bali’s virtually undiscovered waves. That film inspired goofy-footer Wayne Lynch to surf Uluwatu, which became a historical event when famed photographer Dick Hoole captured him in a barrel—the very first to be caught on film at the soon-to-be iconic break. The rest, as they say, is history. Decades later, in 2001, Bali Villas opened, inspired by those pioneering surfers of the golden ‘70s. In 2008 ownership changed and the property was renamed Uluwatu Surf Villas, cementing it as the destination for those seeking waves with a side of Bali magic. Morning Light Yoga Studio debuted in 2014, offering ocean-view vinyasa classes, and in 2018 Mana Uluwatu followed, adding all-day dining and drinking elements to the trifecta. Our Mission Uluwatu Surf Villas provides guests with an unrivaled Balinese experience of barefoot luxury. Located at one of the most iconic surf destinations in the world, we honor this heritage through our superlative offerings: complementary surfboards for use during your stay, private staircase access to the white sand beach for epic waves and tide pool explorations, on-site yoga with ocean views, and en-suite massage to mention a few.
