Lamu Yoga Festival

About Lamu Yoga Festival Yoga, Wellness and Fun We are bringing you the fifth annual Lamu Yoga Festival March 14-18, 2018. Activities will be centered in charming Shela village, but will encompass Manda Island and Lamu Old Town, so the whole area is abuzz with yoga. A variety of yoga classes and meditations — for all levels — will be offered over four days at 10 unique venues and studios. From early-bird yoga on the beach to meditation under the moon, the festival offers something for everyone, including new experiences for long-time practitioners. Highlights include a dhow sail, workshops, fun competitions, and a grand finale beach party with Lamu drummers and acrobats. Is your partner not into yoga? Bring them along to enjoy the myriad other activities Lamu has to offer. Check out our partner program! We’re World Famous The Lamu Yoga Festival is featured as Number 1 out of “5 Yoga Festivals Worth Traveling the World For.” That’s right, just ahead of festivals in San Francisco and New York City. Check it out: No Cars, No Stress Lamu is an island on the coast of Kenya, rich in culture, tradition and natural beauty. It boasts a tropical climate, miles of pristine beaches and many options for accommodations for all budgets. Lamu Old Town, the oldest Swahili settlement in East Africa, is a UNESCO heritage site. Besides the history and nature, what else makes Lamu so magical? We don’t have cars, just plenty of donkeys and boats. Without the stress and rush of modern life, it’s easy to feel a million miles away. The simple and delicious Swahili cuisine is part of the reason Lamu is known as Kenya’s health and wellness destination. We eat plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and seafood daily, and so will you. We also spend lots of time enjoying the unspoiled beauty of our island. Jogging or walking on the beach, hiking the dunes, swimming, sailing, tanning, fishing — and, of course, outdoor yoga.
