I am a fully yoga qualified teacher who gained my teacher training certification at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram in Kerala, at the beginning of 2013. Read my thoughts about yoga here.
Originally I trained in Sivananda yoga, a set sequence of yoga practice. This repeated sequence creates a great foundation on which I build my practice and whilst the class (and my personal practice) have moved on from this sequence it is grounded in an understanding of the basic yoga postures and foundational practices.
I am deeply grateful to all my teachers who have studied and practiced and shared their insight and experience with me.I believe yoga can be adapted to suit the needs of any individual and that it isn’t about being able to touch your toes. It’s about working with your own body and coming to understand its abilities and limitations.
When not teaching yoga, I am the Development Officer for Move More Edinburgh, a programme to enable people affected by cancer to be more active. If you would like more info on this programme please get in touch.
I previously co-ordinated KICC active Lothian, a programme of yoga, pilates and exercise classes for people with long term conditions. More details on these classes can be found here: www.kiccactive.org.uk
Yoga for Health Conditions
Yoga can be beneficial to everyone and can be especially good for helping to manage the symptoms of health conditions and the side effects of treatment. I have specialist qualifications to work with people who have various health conditions including Cancer and Multiple Sclerosis. I prefer to work with people on a one-one basis so that we can focus on the postures most suitable for you, so if you are interested in private yoga classes and have a health condition please get in touch and we can discuss the way forward.
