Sometimes you need to unlearn everything, only to learn it again with a new mindset. Coming from a very hectic world with stress and constant pressure (mostly self-inflicted), the Mindfulness classes at Battersea Yoga literally changed my life. I believe I’m not the first one to say this. It enabled me to see the world with new eyes and allowed me to discover that my mind didn’t need to be stuck in a place of anxiety and stressful thoughts. I am now able to face the world with a much more accepting and non-judging mindset. I have been able to let things simply go. Once you experience that you don’t have to spend all that time in your head judging yourself or worrying about what has been and what may happen tomorrow, it is the most incredible release. Being able to enjoy the current moment is the most simple thing, yet the hardest. The fact I had to go to a class to learn it is a mystery, but it’s funny how life sometimes just gets a hold of you and makes you stuck.
Battersea Yoga welcomes you with open arms. It’s people and sense of community is the studio’s strength, whilst at the same time allowing you to guilt free put yourself and your wellbeing in focus. Enjoying the natural light hitting you from it’s windows, smelling the candles and insense, whilst enjoying the free cookies and herbal teas - it’s all good.
After now six months of weekly practice, this yoga studio and its accepting, calm and fun community has become something I simply need. Every time I walk into the studio, I feel at peace and calm. Allowing myself a weekly (or so) check-in, I am able to maintain my hectic day-to-day life with a much calmer mind and feeling like I can handle anything challenge, stress or anxiety heading my way. Grateful for this little Battersea gem right on my doorstep.
PS. The gong is pretty bad ass as well, and is surprisingly addictive.
