Instructor: Lisa Kazmer
My skill level: Absolute Beginner
New to Yoga. Quite a large human being and never thought I would try yoga. Mostly weights but pretty sedentary in work and at home. While I may not subscribe to much of the spiritual aspects of yoga, from a strictly physical standpoint, a noticeable improvement in my flexibility, posture, and balance have come due to practice which helps in every day life.
I do not go frequently, once a week when I can, but I will continue to show up. Lisa has gone above and beyond to break down all the basic movements for us in our class, and the class size is always below 10 people. Personalized instruction with hands on manipulation when a pose or two is off. As well, props are used as and when required to prevent injury and really focus on specific muscle groups. Lessons learned? There is always a way to make something easier, and definitely ways to make poses more challenging ;)
I highly recommend Yoga in Common. Location is great, studio space is nice, they have all the equipment so no need to lug around matts and towels, and it is friendly. Lisa deconstructs poses into smaller achievable pieces, and goes through step by step to understand how to build up the required muscles and flexibility to achieve final poses. Every movement has a purpose and Lisa's patience and expertise is beyond reproach.
Highly recommended.
