Cape Weligama

We as a family of three took a weekend getaway from the relatively busy streets of Colombo, and this was our second visit to Cape Weligama. The food had improved and highly recommended for anyone who's a "foodie", the Tornados Rossini with Foie is a personal favourite; their rack of lamb was quite decent. Eggs B for breakfast was a daily highlight. We experienced some issues with the Villa air-conditioning, which maintenance promptly sorted out. We will certainly be back! This is probably the best resort in Sri Lanka for those looking for butler service, in-room dining and a quiet break by the beach. I would urge the management to replace the mattresses, as they need to be of far higher quality for a hotel of this proclaimed standard. Kind Regards, Michael.

Was a wonderful experience the villas are beautiful and architecturally decorated. The modern and well thought amenities were very nice. Special mention of Shehan who was the go to man for anything & Sanka at the restaurant always made our foods craving happy. Yassir Jiffrey at reservation did really perfect our booking. Only issue we had was the desert/sweet options were very limited except for which all the other food preparation were delicious. The high tea too was a nice affair. Will I return again, yes definitely ????????

Exceptional service and great atmosphere. Great view points to experience the beauty of the area especially the sunset , Super clean and spacious rooms. food was fantastic. The management and staff were flexible in making arrangements where necessary.

This has been our second visit to Cape Weligama and it was a wonderful experience as we expected. Our butler, Venura provided an excellent service and was very courteous and prompt. The accommodation was excellent and I have to add, the upgrade was greatly appreciated :) The meals were exactly what we expected, fresh and very well made. Overall a wonderful two days spent at Cape Weligama and looking forward to visiting again soon!

Had spent 2 nights at this hotel with my family. This was the most memorable hotel experience of our lives. The service was impeccable, and since it was our anniversary, we were given special attention. The staff were simply lovely. They arranged beautifully set dinner tables on the Ocean Terrace, and gave us a curated experience that we have not seen anywhere in the world before (we've traveled and stayed in luxury hotels in at least several different countries). A few amenities were closed due to the government COVID restrictions, but the staff service made up for all of that! These were some of the people who need special mention - Mr Venura, Chef Udara, Mr Chamara, Mr Suranga, Mr Dulaj, Mr Nishantha, Ms Umesha, the spa staff and many others working tirelessly in the background (the 2 days spent went like a blurry dream, so I apologize for not remembering all the names). This was luxury treatment to the extreme!!

We stayed in a beautifully appointed Grand Ocean Villa, which offers a private pool as well as being steps away from the stunning 60-meter cliff edge, Moon pool. The suite, complete with generous bedroom, lounge and bar entertainment area, a large private ocean view terrace, walk-in closet, and a WC with full views from the luxury of its oval freestanding bathtub, as well as a private sauna is great for couples or a small family. The quietly tasteful interior with a beautiful neutral palette and highly functional wooden furniture provides a warm homely feel where every convenience is considered. Coffee drinkers thumb up for the easy to use the illy-coffee machine! Teetotaler’s, don't miss Dilmah’s finest…. Venura our courteous guest liaison was present to ensure our stay was beyond expectation. I am hard pushed to believe this is in fact his job as much as his pleasure. Extraordinary. The culinary experience, led by Executive Chef Nishantha offered beautiful, uncomplicated yet refined dishes, each one memorable. Impressive too is the excellent quality of bread and croissants freshly baked onsite. We thoroughly enjoyed a seven-course menu in a private dining room, prepared and served with easy conversation and great sequence of service! As our stay fell over World Environment Day, we were invited to plant a rare Ceylon Ebony tree, together with the resorts resident naturalist Sam. This was a thoughtful and fitting activity, which felt great to be included in. Our farewell was surprising, warm and truly memorable. We hope to return and look forward to exploring sister properties, Tea Trails, and the Wild Coast Tented Lodges in the future. Cape Weligama is a wonderful escape, credit to the extraordinary teamwork of talented professionals who love what they do. The resort oozes real luxury in that quiet, graceful, uncompromising way, and seems to know its place; allowing nature to shine through and steal the limelight. Simply put – resplendent.

We stayed for two nights in a Junior suite. Lovely large room whih is very spacious. The interior is simple and nice and had balcony. It’s location is excellent and the menu had a good variety. Staff was very helpful and friendly. And highly recommend the 'Kumbuk' breakfast experience which has an authentic Sri Lankan menu with a loacl village dining experience in an open garden area . A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We stayed at Cape Weligama for three nights, just before the country went into lockdown. So we weren't able to enjoy whale watching and a few other tours as we'd hoped. But three days at the resort were a complete pleasure. We were so very well looked after by our own private butler, Chaminda...We had a fantastic ocean suite...a place you would like to live! Beautifully designed and totally luxurious, a patio with our semi private pool, overlooking the ocean...And peacocks and monitor lizards and wonderful tropical birds right at our door. We so enjoyed being in the Moon Pool, an infinity pool that melds with the Indian Ocean, with its tall palms on the horizon....the most beautiful pool and setting I've ever seen. And two beaches to visit on the ocean, both easily accessed....as well as a number of lookout points on the hotel's grounds to enjoy their vistas, especially at sunset. The food was excellent....especially the Chef's Table which it was our pleasure to experience. And a perfect restaurant setting looking on to the ocean, with outdoor tables under the stars. Really that was enough to keep us very happy... But we also had two dedicated naturalists who took us on bird walks on the property morning and evening....we have been on many bird walks, but none quite like this; in addition to the variety of birds, the naturalists took an interest well beyond identifying the bird....we learned so much and appreciate their expertise and love of nature. Cape Weligama is a very special place...a little paradise to which we'd happily return.

We stayed here two nights on our journey throughout Sri Lanka during our honeymoon. WOW! Is what I have to say the views the infinity pool into the water, the SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE, and the food. Everything was exceptional here. We had the best time and were so sad to leave. The surf bar was such a cool spot to spend the afternoon and have some great lunch and beers. We will definitely be back. We also did a private dinner with the chef (7 courses) and it was amazing and the best experience of our trip. This place is a must!!!

This was my first stop in Sri Lanka and I was sad to leave after a couple of days. The resort is set among a breathtakingly beautiful clifftop view of the ocean. The rooms are incredibly spacious with every single amenity you could ever imagine (from a bed larger than king-size, a huge soaker tub, a sauna and valet laundry service). I am vegan and was very nervous about eating the food, but speaking to the staff was very simple and they easily accommodated my special diet and made me delicious food. Special thank you to Venura - he was always in touch by WhatsApp whenever I had questions about anything and helped me from the beginning to the end of my trip. He was extremely professional and courteous and friendly and I hope to stay again some day mainly because of his excellent attention to detail and helping ensure my stay was nothing short of amazing.

We had our second visit to Cape Weligama a few weeks ago and we couldn’t fault a thing. We were lucky enough to stay in a detached villa, with patio and garden all to ourselves. Also we had a semi private pool which we shared with one other villa, with amazing views of the ocean. The villa itself was brilliant, with everything we needed. Fully stock mini bar and fridge, surround sound Sonos speakers, steam room.........I could go on and on. The gardens and walkways were immaculate, and the moon pool was spectacular. Restaurants and bar are beautiful with amazing views over the ocean. Food and drinks were great, and the afternoon tea is a must. The staff were all great , but Chamara and Venura were excelled. Nothing was too much trouble for Vanura and he was always ready to collect us in the buggy to take us where we wanted to go. He was our ‘go to’ guy and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better. Chamara was fantastic, based in the restaurant and bar, nothing was ever too much trouble for him. His attention to detail was superb and his dedication and professionalism to make sure the guests had everything they needed was superb. He was always polite and always helped us wherever we were in the hotel. We have just booked our next visit and I am sure it will be just as fantastic.

Me & my wife stayed for two nights at the ocean villa. It was very unique experience for us. Special shout out to Chaminda & Chamara for making our stay a memorable one. Chaminda was always just a message away & he would respond instantly to any requirement. Chamara was always lively & ready to serve menu as per our request in the restaurant. Even the Chef was coming out to meet us to get feedback about the menu served. And one could notice the resort manager Mr. Gajendra interacting & making sure that guests are being well taken care of. All in all, out of the world experience in terms of location, the amenities, quality of service & last but not the least one can sense the very warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality & culture for which it is famous for & I must congratulate the owner for maintaining such high standards. We would like to come back to stay again in this fabulous resort with our kids sooner than later.

Absolutely sublime....stayed in an ocean villa which was beautiful and such a fantastic spot within the resort. Chaminda our concierge was on the ball with anything we needed via WhatsApp! Little quiet at night but that was probably the time we visited....nothing to complain about will be back ASAP!!

We had two large houses for us and our teenage kids. Very spacious and comfortable. Excellent service all around, from the hotel staff, housekeeping, waitstaff. Great food and very nice gym. The spa was a bit pricey, but I had a great manicure/pedicure. We tried all the extras and they were all great: Sri Lankan cooking class, bike ride through neighbouring village, excursion to Fort Galle, boot camp, surf classes. The surf instructors were alright - it was sometimes hard to understand what they were saying and I had a hard time learning

I have just returned from Cape Weligama where I spent 6 nights in the most wonderful comfort, we were pampered in every way, from the quality of accommodation, facilities of the hotel, food and most importantly the incredible attention to detail from every member of staff! Our agent had made a small mistake with the category of villa we had chosen, the management team particularly Venura went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were happy with the villa we were given in place of our chosen one, he then everyday made sure we were happy and satisfied with everything. We had a fabulous time and will be going back next year. I personally don't think this hotel can be beaten for an all-round wonderful holiday destination, Sri Lanka is a total treat of a Country and this hotel is the cherry on the top!
