My husband and I first completed the Agama Level One Intensive Hatha Yoga course in January 2018. We attended every session of the intensive 150 hour program, and were inspired enough by the exceptionally thorough teachings on the scientific and philosophical basis of yoga to return again in January 2019. My husband repeated the Level One Intensive Course, while I attended many Level one classes and lectures, as well as completing the Level 2 class.
As a yoga teacher and practitioner for the past 45 years, primarily in the Iyengar and Ashtanga yoga traditions, I was very intrigued by the offerings of this spiritual university. Agama is a very unique school, with a curriculum including twenty four levels of Hatha Yoga study that require a period of at least three full years to complete. We have observed that most students take many more.
Our experiences at Agama Yoga have been very positive, noting in particular the comprehensive, traditional philosophical teachings in the science of yoga, offered by Agama’s very dedicated, knowledgeable, and professional teachers. It is also worth noting that this it is the distinct policy of this yoga school to not only allow, but to encourage, students to repeat any of the twenty four levels of hatha yoga completely free of charge, an unlimited number of times, in order that students fully understand the fundamental, teachings introduced, as each course is a prerequisite for the next. It is my understanding as well that Agama offers all of its Hatha Yoga courses to citizens of Thailand for free, as a gesture of appreciation for being guests in their country. I believe these policies speak volumes about the integrity of the school.
ver the past year, the authentic yoga practice as taught by Agama has changed my life. I have a much deeper understanding of why I practice yoga; have fully incorporated mediation practice into my daily life; changed my diet; and am far more devoted to living a holistic , healthy, pure lifestyle.
We look forward to continuing our studies at Agama next year.
