Because it was already 5 years ago since my last dive, my instructor Derek gave me a refresh course in the morning. He is a very enthusiastic instructor that you immediately feel good about. After lunch we had a wonderful dive at Aow Leuk Bay. I would absolutely recommend Assava and Derek to anyone.

Have stayed in around 70 different places in Thailand, but very few times have I felt so much welcomed as at Assava Dive Resort. It feels like a family where you become part of as guest. Only Here Hostel in Bangkok comes close to it.

I did my PADI Open Water qualification with Assava over the New Year break. Natalie was my instructor and she was great with her explanations and was there to reassure me through the entire teaching sessions and the dives. Everyone at Assava was very friendly, and I preferred the relaxed and private atmosphere here to the dive places on the main strip in Sairee. Overall it was a wonderful experience to do my dive with Natalie and would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a similar experience.

I’ve been to a few dive schools on this island and Assava hit the right chords for me. Their staff are amazing especially Angelina who works hard to make you the best diver you can be. She explains well and in detail that makes you very comfortable and confident in the water. I was lucky to have met Angelina a few days after landing on the island and I’m very grateful for her dedication towards her craft. Thank you Assava for having such great staff at your disposal.

I had a very positive experience at the resort. Accommodation (dorm) I stayed in was decent quality. Any issues / queries I had related to my stay were resolved pretty quickly. I really enjoyed the diving course as well. In all honesty, I haven't got any other diving courses to compare it with, but I can say that my instructor (Kelley) was very professional and knowledgeable. Really good location of the resort too.

This place is honestly amazing, very quiet and chill. I planned on staying here for just 4 nights to learn to dive, ended up staying 8. They were accommodating both times I asked for extended stays. Very much a family like atmosphere, you can tell everyone loves to work there. I ate at the restaurant every day, and I'm pretty sure the server Jonny deserves a raise. To the diving: I was lucky enough to have my own personal instructor. Kat was amazing from beginning to end. I had some mental hurdles to get over, and she was extremely patient, even gave me other options to still get out into the ocean. In addition, I came down with a cold and sat out a couple of days before my dives, and she was totally cool with it and still did my dives with me. I honestly think I would have quit without her. The rooms are also very nice and clean, just in general a very relaxed atmosphere. I have zero complaints, other than the fact I came down with a cold.

We had a lovely stay at Assava Dive Resort! We wanted to do our Padi Open Water, however we had 2 children with us of 9 and 5. The kids could come with us on the boat.The boat boys were so kind to our kids while we were diving. Our instructors Colin and Angelina had so much patience with us and our kids. During my two first dives everything went smooth and well. On my third dive I got a panic attack on 14 mtrs depth while taking of the mask. Angelina had so much patience with me. In the end I got my scuba diver license to 12 meters which is just fine for me. My husband has the open water license. I am thankful for having Colin and Angelina as our instructors.

I chose Assava as they were one of the few dive centres on Chalok Baan Kao Bay - a beautiful part of the island. I did my Advanced Open Water course there and was so impressed with the professionalism of the dive staff that I completed another course. Thank you to Kelly, Colin and Kat for their smiles and guidance. I was really happy the groups for the courses were small. Besides diving, I think the resort itself is a fantastic place to stay in, even if you're not a diver. The restaurant has a great view and the staff were always accommodating with requests. I would definitely return to this place if I'm ever back on Koh Tao!

I got my scuba diving certification (Open Water) in Koh Tao and the experience was outstanding and extremely professional. We were 4 "students" in this group; the knwoledge development was very interesting to learn more about how our body is reacting under water. Then, the scuba skills in the pool and finally the 4 dives in the 4 different spots. The most important thing: the trainer (Eric) was amazing. His unbelievable knowledge was very rewarding and his patience helped all of us to do the different exercices properly. I definitely recommand Assava Dive Resort for Open Water or for a fun dive.

I did not stay on the resort, but I dove with Assava. I went to them to complete the Advanced Diving Course. I was more than pleased with my experience. I chose to do a few more fun dives with them after the course was over. Mainly, I felt very comforted by the staff. They all seemed very happy to be there and enthusiastic to get to know new people. I immediately felt welcomed. The staff were very helpful and informational, willing to answer all of the questions I had. They made sure I had a good experience. The resort partner's with Ban's Diving, so if they do not have a boat going where you would like, they arrange transport to Ban's and you may join their boat. If I go back to Koh Tao, I would dive with Assava again.
