Hokule'a Sanctuary

In Hawaiian, the name Hokulea refers to Arcturus, one of the guiding stars which passes directly over Hawaii's latitude, helping guide sailors to the island chain. Stars cross the sky from east to west. They are at their zenith when they appear to reach their highest point. Certain stars are known to Hokulea (Arcturus) is a zenith star for Hawaii Island. A’a (Sirius) is a zenith star for Tahiti and Fiji. Hawaiian islands have been discovered by the Polynesians navigators following the Arc to Arcturus.
