I teach classical Pilates, beginning through advanced equipment and mat routines. While I like to stay grounded in the classical approach, there has been so much innovation and creativity in the world of Pilates in the last few years, I often mix it up with modern athletic Pilates movement if desired. Need to start slowly? No problem. If you're dealing with injuries, I also do some physical therapy based exercises to help build strength and speed up recovery. Joseph Pilates created this unique form of exercise during world war one as a rehabilitative program for wounded soldiers and after that he moved to New York City where his amazing results impressed the likes of modern dancer Martha Graham and many members of the New York City Ballet. These days Pilates just keeps growing in popularity because it works. The Pilates method guarantees improvement in strength and coordination for people of every fitness level. I was certified to teach Pilates in 2004 through Studio B Pilates, now known as Pilates Logic and I've also gone through continuing education and certification at Purely Pilates, both located in Los Angeles. I've been teaching for over 18 years now and love it. In addition to Pilates, I recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a B.Sc, in Plant Science. I'm interested in increased environmental sustainability within the city of Los Angeles and on a global level. My specific areas of interest include urban forestry, water use issues, soil science and horticulture and my favorite class was environmental toxicology. I'm always pursuing new learning opportunities to expand my knowledge of movement and the Pilates method. I recently added Barre to my repertoire, which is great for online work.
