The Moving Joint is a movement studio that provides the communities of Mar Vista, Venice, Marina Del Ray and surrounding areas with high quality and intelligent Pilates, Gyrotonic, and Yoga, as well as an onsite physical therapist. We offer private, semi-private and Pilates reformer classes as well as a variety of Yoga, dance and pre and postnatal options. In all of these classes you can easily engage and interact with the instructors because of the smaller class sizes .The instructors are all trained with professional certifications as well as continuing education specialties. PILATES
Is an wonderful form of exercise that has gotten a lot of hype over the last 10 years. It is an innovative system of mind-body exercise evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates, based on the power of connecting the mind, the body, and the breath in a series of focused and precise movements. If done correctly, it can dramatically transforms how your body looks, feels and performs. At The Moving Joint we aim to help you find deeper connection to your body and the way it functions in movement. Although the effects of the work are tighter abs, leaner yet strong muscles, and more range of motion, we also aim to help you grow in your understanding of how to keep your body healthy, improve your posture, and help you with your mind body connection so that you have the tools to stay feeling good and injury free. The exercises are performed either on the mat or on specially designed equipment (during private semi-private or small group classes) constructed with variable spring resistance to help open and align the skeletal system while strengthening and balancing the muscular system.**If you are planning to try the small group reformer classes (5 students max in a class), we highly recommend that you do at least the intro package of two private sessions first so that you can get to know how to use the equipment and so that we can get to know you and what you might need to work on specifically.
YOGA
Yoga is an ancient and integrative movement practice. Through the exploration of exhaling and inhaling, forward bending and backward bending, movement and stillness, and sound and silence, Yoga leads us towards the art of serenity and wellness within.Yoga is an excellent complement to the Pilates practice. While Pilates gives our bodies the support and stability to sustain the Yoga asanas (poses) safely, Yoga keeps us fluid and flexible when working the physical musculature of the body in Pilates.Yoga classes at The Moving Joint include Breathing and Meditation classes to Hatha flow and Pre-Natal Yoga. Privates may be arranged as well.
