The Work Pilates Studio

Here’s a bit about how I got to be where I am today, sharing my love of movement and the beauty of how to find ease and freedom within our bodies. While dancing at arizona state, classical pilates became a fundamental addition to my routine. I found the work deepened my body awareness, provided strength, flexibility and grounding. Ultimately, I connected to fletcher pilates. The precision of the movements, choreographed sequences, emphasis on breath and connection to modern dance are what drew me in. After graduating, I continued my education at the ron fletcher comprehensive program of study in tucson, arizona. There I completed the 1000 hour training program to be a professional fletcher teacher. Shortly after I opened my first studio in phoenix, arizona. I now reside in los feliz, los angeles, where I have my current studio “the work”. Always learning, always growing, i’ve continued in both avenues through various forms of healing and movement modalities. In addition to pilates, I incorporate my studies of yoga, reiki, meditation, breath work and herbalism to my sessions. All sessions are catered to the individual based on their specific desires and needs. I’m certified in shivakali yoga. A 200 hour training focusing on aligned vinyasa flow, culminated with restorative postures, meditation and pranayama. In this training I expanded my knowledge in the science of yoga. Learning the history of the upanishads, buddhism, yoga sutras, bhakti traditions and tantric lineages. Bodhicitta is the shivakali moto: an enlightened intention to have compassion for all beings and be free of suffering. I have also studied a various forms of meditation, kriyas, mantra, breathwork and asana all weaving together to add a connection to conscious awareness, while helping to repair and strengthen the nervous system. Herbalism is a practice that has been incorporated into my everyday life for many years. I have studied the vast medicinal uses of herbs and have personally benefited from the many healing benefits that they have to offer. Reiki is a healing energy that I also weave into my work. I have been certified in both reiki 1 and 2 through my teacher lara elliott. My joy is in teaching and sharing all the forms of movement and healing that I have studied and integrate into my seesions and classes. I combine all these areas together to provide a unique holistic experience for all whom find their way into my studio. Ralph, pictured, is a studio fixture, mainly parks under the cadillac, but has been know to greet with a few kisses too.
