I've been reading Thich Nhat Hanh for 14 years. No author has been more transformative in my life. My understanding of Thay's teachings has deepened much from a single weekend at Magnolia Grove. The books and his online dharma talks cannot transmit the profound reverberations of the bell, the instant equanimity, the sense of stability, centeredness. They cannot transmit the experience of mindful eating amongst a community, the deliberateness of mindful walking, and the beauty of children's songs and chants in the meditation hall. Most of all, the books and the online dharma talks cannot transmit the peace, nobility, and joy in the faces of the monastics, the immediate calm and happiness one feels being in their gaze of nonseparateness. Inter-be with them as soon as you can.
