At NY Loves Yoga, our teachers offer various styles within the studio to accommodate a range of practices. Our teachers are skilled and careful, but if you appreciate and/or need a significant amount of individual attention, please read the class descriptions below to ensure you get the most out of your yoga experience. Candlelight Restorative This class is our “spa treatment†of yoga on Friday evenings. A well-deserved treat for anyone, you’ll use props and deep breathing to release tension points and restore energy, balancing the your body’s nervous system with benefits for injury recovery and mental clarity. Yoga Essentials In a welcoming, supportive environment, experience the essentials of yoga and yoga’s health benefits, including poses, breath, and philosophy. With detailed instructions and safe guidance, you’ll build flexibility and strength. Designed for the entry-level yogi, all levels can benefit from slowing it down and paying attention for deep learning and stress relief. Pure Hatha Create poise, reduce stress, and improve your body’s overall physical health in a holistic and supportive environment. You’ll explore strength building postures, purification practices, controlled breathing, and calming of the mind for relaxation and meditation. Slow Vinyasa Classic Vinyasa at a slower pace (see below for Classic Vinyasa). Slow Flow Open up your physical body with a warm up of fluid movements, a series of stretches, and joint mobilizations. Bring focus to your subtle body using Qi Gong and Tai Ji exercises, then move through a moderately paced, mindful Vinyasa flow, finishing with restorative back bends and forward bends to nourish and replenish the body. ​ Yoga Tune-Up YTU® This empowering self-care focused class combines elements of yoga, corrective movement, and self-massage using Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls to de-stress, unlock myofascial restrictions and improve body awareness. The poses, sequences & routines identify and strengthen ‘body blind spots’ - areas of the body that are overused, underused or misused and are potential catalysts for pain and injury. This Yoga Tune Up® class is a smart self-care complementary practice to any and all of your other athletic pursuits. It will help you recover faster, leave you more balanced, integrated and living better in your body.
