I simply cannot rave about this yoga studio enough. I started doing yoga at home using YouTube videos and other sources to help guide me in the summer of 2012. Within probably a few months or so, I began coming to this studio after reading the rave reviews and have not even considered stepping foot in another studio.
When you enter the Yoga and Healing Center you are welcomed by friendly, cheerful staff and creative merchandise (apparel, jewelry, etc) as well as a small waterfall that accents the fun vibe. If it is your first class, you fill out some pretty brief paperwork and are handed a folder with the schedule for that season, a free guest pass for a friend, a free refill using their advanced filtration system, etc. You then sign into your scheduled class and head into whatever room said class is in. (I have only been in the first one)
The studio is clean and pleasant smelling, often with incense burning and relaxing music playing. All of the teachers I have had have been friendly (Mary is especially a sweetheart), helpful in guiding our moves and adjusting our posture and such, and seem genuinely passionate about what they do.
I also admire the small things such as Mary offering essential oils to put on our wrists before class starts or putting a blanket over us during a relaxing pose in restorative yoga as well as any teacher reading a poem or a portion of a book at some point during the practice or during Shavasana that coincides with life, self-love, self-awareness, or what have you. It is if there is a theme to focus on each practice. (as well as whatever goal you choose to set for said practice)
Whether you are brand new to yoga, starting back up, or have been doing it for a years, there is a class for you. You will easily be able to find a style and class taught uniquely by a teacher that will fit your mood, energy level, and other physical and mental needs that day.
In addition to their variety of classes, The Yoga and Healing Center also holds events with various guests, a teacher training program, programs for children from time to time, etc.
YCH also conveniences you with an online schedule and class registering system as well as many great deals that really helps out (especially for us college students!)
Yoga has truly made a dramatic impact on me and my life. Practicing yoga and mediation can help with so many physical, emotional, and mental issues or even just meet any needs you may have that particular day. I have dealt with depression and anxiety basically my whole life, and this has been the one thing to really help put me in a uplifted spirit and feel relaxed as well as help with my general posture. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful studio to help me progress even further within my journey and allow me to be a better person overall.
If it weren't for financial issues, I would be at this studio multiple times a week. I cannot wait to buy another class card in a couple weeks and attend regularly again! :D
