Early life Bharath Shetty was born on 19th March 1979, in Udupi, a town in South Karnataka, India. Practicing yoga since an early age, he was further drawn to the practice after yoga helped him manage the chronic asthma he suffered from. His first teacher was Yogacharya Kumara at the Shantivana Trust, close to his hometown. When a bus accident in 1999 incapacitated his legs, he steadfastly worked on his recovery and was able to walk again soon after. He credits this revival to the inner strength he acquired through his yoga practice. In 2002, he one pointedly studied and trained with world renowned Yoga Guru, Padma Vibhushan B.K.S. Iyengar, in Pune, India. This was an invaluable experience which helped further deepen his knowledge and insight of yoga. Yoga Career Bharath had his first teaching experience in 1995 when he was approached with a request for taking classes by a group of people in a park where he practiced regularly. Teaching them yoga regularly, he discovered his true calling. Soon after, he decided to become a professional yoga teacher to pursue his passion and use his immense knowledge to spread the benefits of yoga to the world. Bharath founded Creative Yoga Centre, his first studio, in Bangalore in 1998. He later moved to Mysore in 2004, one of the important yoga hubs in India, and set up a new school that is now known as IndeaYoga. Since then, he has been conducting teacher training courses and guided self-practice Mysore Style classes regularly. A second shala 'Yoga Bharata' was also set up in the city center, where one can attend classes throughout the year. He has conducted workshops across India and around the world including Belgium, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China. One of the most sought after corporate yoga teachers, he has trained professionals from Union Bank of Switzerland, Google, Wipro, Oracle, ANZ Information Technologies and Theorem.
