The first developments of the Shanti House project took place in the summer of 2014, when we held several five-day traveling yoga retreats with the participation of both students of the Shanti Yoga School at the Center for Energy-Information Rehabilitation , and completely new people in the yoga world as part of the Yoga in Nature project . We received a lot of positive feedback during and after the events (some of which can be read on the blog) and definitely decided to repeat this experience next season.
And while we were waiting for new meetings, incredible changes took place in 2015 - we acquired a HOUSE, a place where since then we began to build our own World, where we create a quiet island where we want to return again and again, where it’s easy to find peace, like-minded people , myself.
Shanti Dom is located 50 km from Minsk, away from a small village called Shikuti. On the territory of the Manor, a solid wooden building of the early 20th century, a children's school, has been preserved. At that time, this part of Belarus was under the control of Poland, so the architecture of the building is quite unusual for local villages. The total area of the territory is 0.8 hectares.
Since 2015, Shanti Dom has been running a volunteer program for school reconstruction and organic permaculture farming. Volunteers from many countries of the world come to the project to help Shanti Dom and the surrounding areas, residents of neighboring villages.
In 2015, a subsidiary is also born - Shanti Lavka , a health food store. One of its primary tasks was to provide clean food to participants in the yoga and volunteer programs of Shanti Doma. To date, there are already 7 stores in Lavka in Minsk, it continues to perform its first, but by no means the only function.
In 2016, our Project received a certificate from the Registered Yoga School RYS200 Yoga Alliance (USA), which allows us to conduct yoga teacher training with the issuance of international certificates. And in 2016, the first certificates were received by students from Belarus, Great Britain, Spain and Austria. Since then, every summer at Shanti Dom, RYT200 Yoga Alliance teacher trainings are held in Russian and English.
In 2019, 16 hectares of land were added to the territory of Shanti Dom for farming. The beginning of a permaculture forest plantation was laid and about 600 trees were planted. This is how the Shanti Valley was born .
In the summer of 2022, we sold the School in Shikuti in order to direct all our efforts towards the implementation of the Shanti Valley project. Here, over time, the idea of a retreat center will be recreated, but at a completely different location, among the hectares of its own permaculture forest garden.
If at the initial stage, Shanti Dom and all projects adjacent to it were ways of self-expression and realization of important life tasks of its participants, today it is our world, which is not separated from ourselves. We do not consider all this as projects. Now this is our life. Our world.
