Yoga is a system of integral education, which involves not only the body, the mind and the intellect, but also the inner spirit. Yoga is indicated for all, it is universal. Our Center was founded by Swami Vishnudevananda in the year 1976 and from this time it transmits this wisdom with responsibility and seriousness. All of their teachers have been trained in specialized courses taught by the Sivananda International Organization.
The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center is part of the Sivananda International Organization which comprises more than 40 Centers and Ashrams around the world. This international organization was founded in the year 1957 by Swami Vishnudevananda. It is a non-profit organization and its purpose is to spread the teachings of Yoga and Vedanta.
Swami Sivananda (1887-1963)
Yogi and sage of great international renown, he founded the Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh,. A pioneer in the dissemination of Western language teachings, he has authored more than 250 books on Yoga, philosophy, health, and related subjects. Medical training, he renounced his career to devote himself to a life of meditation and service. His message is summed up in this phrase: Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, and perform. Be good and do good.
Swami Vishnudevananda
A direct disciple of Swami Sivananda, with whom he lived and practiced Yoga intensely for 12 years in the Himalayas. He was chosen by his master to propagate the message of Yoga and Vedanta in the West in 1957, founding more than 80 centers and Ashrams throughout the world. World authority in Hatha and Raja Yoga, Swamiji is the author of the bestselling Book of Yoga Complete and Illustrated (1960) and other works. Untiring missionary for world peace, Swamiji sought to spread ideals of unity and tolerance among peoples based on ancestral principles of the philosophy of Yoga.

Introduction to basic Yoga principles and benefits of practice, progressive learning of Yoga postures (Asanas), proper breathing (Pranayama) and relaxation (Savasana).
