TKV Desikachar, deeply rooted in this tradition, the was confronted with great finesse to changing times and has often prompted her non-Indian students from the 80s to find themselves how to transmit it to turn in their own country and their own culture.
Oral teaching that characterizes this transmission is, moreover, firmly against the great treatise basic classical yoga: the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali .Teachers of IFY are trained to the accompaniment of everyone, including beginners or people without physical activity or sport

Deepening the relationship with oneself and the clearer understanding of its needs are a factor of autonomy and health at different levels of being.
The current in which is inscribed the French Institute of yoga - IFY- has a long history. In 1982, yoga teachers, after going to study in Madras with TKV Desikachar and having tasted the incomparable strength of a coherent education, comes from a long tradition, decided to form a federation linked to this teaching. This federation was originally called: Viniyoga . This word chosen by TKV Desikachar, means the act of applying yoga in context and particular people whom it is addressed; it also refers to an intelligent and gradual progression in the circulation and transmission of this vast corpus that is yoga. It refers to the famous formula of NÄthamuni, sent by his father Krishnamacharya. It is not the person to adapt to yoga, but yoga which must be adapted to the individual.
Tirumalai Krishnamacharya was a pupil of the famous scholar Ganganatha Jha and, on his advice, made the long journey to the shores of Lake Manasarovar at the foot of Mount Kailash, sacred for Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims, Tibet, to study with the Acharya Rama Mohan Brahmachari, who lived in a cave with his family. His teaching was the source of wealth of postural and breathing techniques transmitted by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya later, who studied for seven and a half years with him different aspects of Yoga and the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and therapeutic principles or cikitsa krama.
He was then the yoga teacher and therapist MahÄrÄja Mysore. He settled in his palace, in the 1920s the famous school - Yoga Sala - which were formed of people who also became known in the world of yoga Indra Devi, Pattabhi Jois and BKS Iyengar. His own son, TKV Desikachar Sri Bhashyam and then there were children on the occasion of public postures demonstrations to illustrate his teaching.
In the early 1950s, the greatn master Tirumalai Krishnamacharya went to live in Madras, now Chennai. His teaching changed over the changes in society, the new conditions of modern life and different physical abilities that entailed. He advocated synchronization of movement to breathing in postural work, under the guidance of Yoga Rahasya.
