APY which is Bangalore’s over publicized yoga training centre, has been an immense disappointment to me. The yoga classes were great in the intensity and variety. When I joined Teachers training in yoga (TTC) it was a great experience. The experience that followed was horrific.
When I got a phone call that my classes for ttc were over and I needed to submit only a written assignment before I receive my certificate, I was happy.
They also mentioned that the 200 hrs rule no longer applies. I completed my assignment within a week and submitted it to the Jayanagar branch. The management said that they will revert back to me soon. They was no email communication regarding the assignment that was received from their end (there was a prompt reminder in the case of fees when due.)
Then for about 10 days there was no mention of the certificate. When I repeatedly called the jayanagar branch regarding the certificate, the prompt reply was “we have informed grand master we will get back to you soon”. This went on for about 4 more weeks.
When an email with the grievance was sent to APY team, I received a prompt call the next morning stating that the tone of the email was not appropriate for a yogini. Which I would agree, on the pretext, if they believed in punctuality and promptness. The call was short and no email followed it. There was again only a verbal affirmation regarding the certificate. After 7 days of the call we again got in touch with the jayanagar team which stated that they are not handling it anymore and we may have to get in touch with the main branch. What this academy lacks is coordination and organization.
Every time we called the office, someone else was handling it. Was anyone really trying to get work done? When we again explained our grievance, we were sent an email by the legal of APY. They also accused my family member of threatening APY. When we reverted that our lawyers were ready, the email disappeared from my inbox. (This states that there was no threatening) I re sent an email requesting for my certificate as I had other things to take care of as I am recently married and this certificate is overdue for 5 months. There was no reply.
Also the admin of APY team admonished me saying that “she was done with me and never to call her” she was extremely rude, childish and not lending a ear for the students grievances. She was threatening me that if I don’t take back my grievance and say my sorry, my certificates will we withheld. She also gave me an open ended challenge that I can call all the media or “big people” who I may know and get my matter solved. If teachers themselves are setting such examples, what can the student do?
Business strategies of APY seem a little off beat and I would recommend students to be more alert.
I am unclear as to why I am supposed to say sorry. I will say sorry, as I was brought up in a humble home. Next, my religion has taught me that even though there no fault, we still forgive to retain the relationship. I forgive the situation but never will forget my learning’s from this experience.
What I learnt-
1. APY team lacks in promptness and organization skills (too many people handling too many divisions)
2. Student service very poor (lack of email communication and flow chart of how APY works)
3. No awareness on client handling (rudeness, off hand, no clarity)
4. I will continue to study yoga and excel to my God given talents (Definitely)
If APY is really concerned they would have this issue resolved by their yogic worldly principles.
