The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram was founded by TKV Desikachar, son and student of T Krishnamacharya in 1976. Starting his career as an engineer, TKV Desikachar was inspired by his father’s teachings and became his student in the 1960’s. He studied with Krishnamacharya for over thirty years. Today, TKV Desikachar is known and respected the world over as an authority on yoga. The Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram founded by him as a tribute to his father and mentor, is a Public Charitable Trust, recognised by the Health and Family welfare Ministry, Government fo.
Since its inception, the KYM has always stood for quality teaching respecting the needs, interests, abilities and secular faiths of its students. The KYM has played a significant role in popularizing yoga as a holistic science that stems from a well founded theoretical basis, rather than as mere exercises for physical fitness. Kym is also recognised By the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), New Delhi, as one of the Premier Yoga centres in the country. Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram announces the next intake of students for the third batch of its Yoga Teacher Training Programme (2019 – 2020) in collaboration with the well-known, Sri Krishna Wellness Yoga Centre, Malleshwaram, Bengaluru. This is a 600+ hours intensive training programme with a syllabus designed by the Academic Council and the Board of Studies, KYM. Subjects covered include: History and evolution of Yoga in India Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology Fundamentals of ?yurveda and Psychology Theoretical Foundations of ?sana, Pr???y?ma and Dhy?nam Group practices of ?sana, Pr???y?ma and Dhy?nam A detailed study of the Yogas?tra and an overview of Ha?ha-yoga-prad?pik?, Yogarahasya, Yoga-yajñavalkya-sa?hit? and Bhagavadg?ta Planning and designing courses of ?sana, Pr???y?ma and Dhy?nam Building Yoga teacher competencies and teaching methodology Programme Highlights The faculty for this programme will comprise senior teachers from the KYM tradition and also other external experts on the KYM faculty panel Personal practices designed and taught one-on-one by KYM faculty Classes will be held every weekend with the course running for 11 months (3 semesters in all) A five-day internship at the KYM, Chennai will also be a part of the training Observation of group classes conducted by KYM and supervised teaching are a part of the learning The Programme will commence on June 22nd 2019. The KYM International Yoga Teacher Training Program (IYTTP) is a 560+ hours intensive that provides students with an in-depth training in yoga. It equips participants with the skills needed to teach yoga to individuals and groups for non- therapeutic (general fitness) reasons. This training programme covers principles, techniques and practice of asana, pranayama and meditation and key aspects of yoga philosophy.
The KYM Yoga Teacher Training Programme is a 600-hour intensive that provides students with an in-depth training in Yoga. It equips participants with the skills needed to teach Yoga to individuals and groups for non-therapeutic (general fitness) reasons. This training programme covers the principles, techniques, and practice of Asana, Pranayama and meditation and key aspects of Yoga Philosophy. Also included are modules on Indian Culture, Ayurveda, Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology and Psychology. The Prospectus is available at KYM Mandaveli premises.
