Himalaya Shanti Ashram is a mountain retreat specializing in the healing power of Yoga and Meditation as well as sustaining our environmental awareness. Located on the banks of a sparkling clear river, receiving its water from the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, all surrounded by forests and tucked away from the industrial development. It is a true paradise, bringing about quietness and peacefulness unknown in most of the world. Natural dwelling facilities and accommodations provide all that is needed for intensive Yoga and Meditation practice as well permaculture and organic farming.
We are looking to work with others also dedicated to protecting, preserving and enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds us. Those who are looking to learn or teach on the principles of Ayurvedic healing, Organic Farming, Permaculture and other environmental and social projects that are strongly linked to our spiritual journey are invited to contact the ashram for future projects.
Yoga and meditation practice teaches us how to overcome bodily discomforts and constant mind chatter, so we are able to go beyond it and start to experience moments of true silence and peace within. The physical aches and pains of the body are distracting to meditation practice and bad posture disturbs us energetically.
In this course we will teach participants how to sit in a position that is comfortable for long durations and most importantly we provide a yoga practice focusing on the therapeutic aspects, liberating the body from existing tensions. This stabilizes the body and mind to allow you to go beyond it and deepen the practice that leads towards one’s true inner self, transcending both the body and the mind.
All rooms are surrounded by the mountains which shelter them from the wind. They are luminous, with large windows and equipped with good quality mattresses, pillows and bedding. It is not necessary to bring sheets or blankets; however you are required to bring your own towels. The bedding is warm and comfortable and overall the accommodation is intended to create the best possible experience during your stay. The bedding materials are ecological and all the buildings blend in with nature, as the ecosystem is an important part of the experience we offer during the intensive courses. There is a common place for laundry which is situated in a common courtyard with a fountain. There is a kitchen, a front office and a storage room available for use.
The Ashram is not available just for accommodation unless you are a participant of a Yoga Course offered at that time.
