Realizing the drawbacks of theoretical nature of our education we did a research project titled, Youth Development Programme - A Practical Learning Stance. The research found twenty-five areas in which students are lacking to acquire and/or apply the knowledge and/or skills required in practical life situations for full participation in the society. The research also found fifty methods through which the knowledge and skills in those areas can be given to students. Based on these findings we built a Development Programme for youth. In May 2009, the research was awarded the Best Project Award. In September 2009, Central Board of Secondary Education introduced Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) which reduces the theoretical aspect and includes practical aspects in evaluation of students. This further confirmed the relevance and need of the Youth Development Programme. In December 2009, a research paper based on the project was presented in an International Conference organized by Modern Technology and Management Institute, USA. The paper was very much appreciated in the conference and got published in Review of Business and Technology Research, the International Journal of the institute. Further in August 2010, another research paper based on the project was presented in International Congress of Mathematicians, the world's biggest conference of Mathematics. In 2015, Youth's Organization for Ultimate Technique of Happiness (YOUTH), the strategic unit of Self Realization Education Society is implementing Youth Development Programme - A Practical Learning Stance in the form of Gauranga Institute for the benefit of students.
