I am Bishakha from Bishram, which means to rest, but I am restless till I see you on the mat, practicing with me and learning Yogvidya. “Bishram Yoga Shala” is a Shala and not any Yoga center. It’s a practice room where everyone belongs to one family. We are all practitioners here in the Shala, students of the same subject “Yoga”. Every morning we see the light of the day and feel impatient till the time we reach the Shala and do our routine practice, to know more, to learn more and to do a little more.
For me, to practice Yog is to reach sublime. At our Shala, Yoga is believed to be our ‘Chikitsha Vidya’. We attempt to touch our conscience through physical as well as physiological intelligence and mindfulness. We attempt in invigorating motor and sensory nerves through physical alignment and thus connect to our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, healing our body and mind.
Learn this age-old art with a focus on aligning, detailing, mobility, endurance building, mantra chanting, proper breathing and invigorating health and harmony with its power.
I was blessed to this path in the year 2013 after my decade long working relationship (2005 to 2012) in Human Resources with organizations like Airtel, Essar, Times of India and Anandabazar Patrika Group.
Kolkata is my birthplace where I completed my studies. But for my work and Yoga, I moved and lived in other cities making them my home. I have traveled from Kolkata in the east to Gujarat and Mumbai in the west. I have stayed from Delhi in the north to Chennai and Kerala in the South. This was after I finished my Masters of Business Administration from Kolkata, Heritage Institute of Business Administration in the year 2005.
Today, Bishram Yogashala is the result of one remarkable moment in my life. Of meeting the great teacher Zubin Zarthoshtimanesh who is also a direct disciple of Guruji BKS Iyenger. I got the acceptance of my teacher and started learning the subject under his strict and close guidance at his Shala in Mumbai from the year 2008 while I was still working.
The years of working and relationships I had in the corporate environment only made me impatient. There was no escape for my restlessness till the time I found “Bishram”. My mind answered, “This is the only purpose of my life”.
