“Shri Yoga Mandir †mean the temple of yoga, where people could stay and learn yoga in an ideal atmosphere like an ashram of Rishi (Sacred man).†The Yoga Mandir is built on the bank of holy Ganga River in Varanasi. Dr. Mishra’s dream of building an ashram began to take shape in 1994 when contracting began on the Yoga Mandir. Located near the Nagwa Ghat, the Ashram is a lovely place for sunrise devotionals and Place of worship. Banaras Hindu University and Ravidas Park are a 15 minutes walk from the Yoga Mandir. Students from all over the world come to the Yoga Mandir to study yoga, Ayurveda Abhyanga(massage), sanskrit language, Indian religion and Indian philosophy. People also come to receive Ayurveda Abhyanga(massage), treatments and consultations from Dr. Mishra. The Yoga Mandir has an outdoor platform for open-air practice and a courtyards for performances and ceremonies. The ashram also hosts special events, such as concerts of Indian classical dance, performances of traditional, Indian dance, and religious and spiritual ceremonies. A work in progress, the ashram is adding additional housing rooms and a large room for seminars and conferences.
