Gedong Gandhi Yoga Ashram

I didn't expect to find a place where I could feel at home within a day, and feel like part of a family for the rest of the week. Ashram Gandhi is a true gem and made my heart and mind feel light, empowering me to explore the many wonderful things to experience in the surroundings. The members of the Ashram have a heart of gold and couldn't be more welcoming. If you look for a place to be part of a community, share thoughts, meals and laughter, then this is heaven for your trip to Bali. I cannot wait to be back! Terima kasih and namaste ?

Lunch in peaceful place We had lunch after yoga at gedong gandhi ashram and it was a wonderful experience. The ashram community-is more than warm and welcoming. The simple food was delicious and the ashram is perfectly positioned being close to everything you need, recommended this place

I came tired with a bad knee and The place just took me it its arms and lifted me into relaxsation slowing doown tempo change my mindset to positivity much just by sittning looking feeling eating lovely food chatting with The ashram memers and when knee beter joining Simones super Nice hatha yoga. I had The luxury to stay 4 weeks it was so good on all levels. My spirit is high my body cleaner and stronger and I feel realaxed and happy. No TV, limited Wi-Fi, no A/C, what more could you want? I stayed there 35 years ago, and came back interested to see what changes had been made. The ashram has shrunk a little, the beach has dis-appeared to be replaced by concrete walls to stop shore erosion, but it is still a great place to stay. The bungalows have the Lotus Pond one side, and literally 5 metres from the water on the other side. The bungalows are airy, basic bathroom and a balcony with a hammock. The 3 semi-vegetarian (some fish) meals a day were delicious and I loved the communal meals. If you needed a coffee fix, Wacky Jackies had good coffee 5 minutes away. People staying here are always a little different from the normal travelers, there were many interesting conversations and the staff were very friendly.The yoga teachers were fantastic, I would highly recommend for people to stay here if they want some peace and solitude. You can volunteer your time, teach English, help cook, help out in the kindergarden. be aware that only married couples can share a bungalow.

The ashram is just pure magic on tap: from the moment you arrive to your hut between the lotus pond and the beach, to the sunset fire ceremony, the absolutely delicious meals, the lovely members, the adorable kids of the onsite kindergarten and the chanting of the dawn Puja; you have to visit this place to believe it. If you want a truly special Bali experience and the chance to get away from it all then this is definitely the place to be. Thanks so much to everyone there for making my stay so unforgettable.
