As passionate Freedivers, Instructors and athletes, we wanted to create a place that offered the best of everything you need to develop as a Freediver and have a lot of fun while doing it. Freedive Gili was born from the heart and built on a foundation of enthusiasm and dedication to this way of life. We are deeply immersed in all aspects of the sport and so our Freediving courses, facilities and training methods are always evolving and improving. Take a look around or come on over. Freedive Gili is THE place to learn Freediving and Apnea! We are located on the beach front of Gili Trawangan, a tropical paradise nestled between Bali and Lombok, Indonesia. We are blessed with exotic island living, optimal freediving conditions and daily sunsets that will make you melt. The Gili Islands have evolved to become one of Indonesia’s top destinations for their relaxed and rustic charm, beautiful beaches, the fact that there are no motorized vehicles and there are infinite ways to play above and below the surface here! Deep at the heart of Freediving lies the ancient science of Yoga and Meditation. Universal pathways of conscious evolution, these practices are inclusive ways to understand yourself and your relationship to the world around you. We have a dedicated yoga studio onsite at Freedive Gili and a team of passionate Yoga Teachers who will inspire you to embrace a holistic way of life.
We have created the ultimate freediving sanctuary in the sun, now complete with 9 bungalows, a 25 meter swimming pool, a beautiful yoga shala and a healthy high-vibe restaurant. We offer simple luxury in the heart of Gili Trawangan and would love for you to stay with us. Our rooms are set in our tropical garden and face inward to our beautiful yoga shala, just steps away from the best swimming beach on the island. When you stay with us you will be fully immersed in a fun and healthy freediving focussed lifestyle. Wake to the gentle songs of birds, dive into the ocean, lie by the pool or join in a yoga class. Whether you are up for an active adventure or rejuvenation you are welcome here. Our rooms are furnished with air conditioning, wifi, hot, fresh water, safety deposit boxes and a loving and creative design. We are honoured to host you for your stay on the island.
Budget conscious travelers may chose to take the “slow boat” from Bali to Lombok and then on to Gili Trawangan. This journey includes a shuttle pick up from your homestay in Bali and ride to Padangbai, one of two main harbors in Bali. From Padangbai you board the public ferry (thing big, slow and a little creaky) which will take to to Lombok in 4-6 hours. You arrive in Lembar, a harbor town on Lombok and from there take a taxi or bemo (local minibus service) to Bangsal. From Bangsal you take a small public boat to Gili Trawangan- this journey takes 30 minutes to an hour. The total journey time can be from eight to ten hours, so take a good book! There are many tour operators in Bali and Lombok which will offer one price for the entire trip. It will save you time and money to buy one ticket for the whole journey rather than at each section of the trip. For the adventurous this is more of an experience but you won’t save a lot of money by taking the slow boat. If you value your time over money then opt for a fast boat.
