Maria Laura (Marilu) Casalino was born in Lima-Peru. BA in Communication Arts, Sharath Yoga Center (SYC) Authorized bilingual (Spanish / English) Teacher L1, teacher and founder of IKARA Ashtanga Yoga. She initiated her Yoga journey in 2002, with the Iyengar method. Her teacher was a disciple of Sri. H.S. Arun who was a direct disciple of B.K.S Iyengar. Besides her regular lessons, Marilu attended every year to an Intensive Workshop with Sri. H.S. Arun. In 2004, started teaching in gyms and well-known studios in Lima, training professional surfers and people with sport injuries. In 2006, she was certified as Pilates Mat Instructor. In 2011 achieved her 200 hrs Teacher Training of Power Yoga and her Certification in Prenatal Yoga. While she initially studied the Iyengar method and in time explored other styles of Yoga, she eventually developed her passion for Ashtanga Yoga. Marilu committed her way of life to the Ashtanga practice, traveling frequently to Mysore India to study with her Guru Sharath Jois. After many years of self-discipline and patience, she was granted “Authorized teacher†by Sharath Yoga Center (SYC). Marilu has taken several workshops, mainly with Mark Robberds and Guy Donahaye. Her Ashtanga teacher in Lima-Peru was Pedro Rubio. Later, she studied Yoga Philosophy, Sanskrit and Chanting in Myosre India with Laksmisha from the Sharath Yoga Centre. Took an intensive Ayurveda course with Dr. Chitra Lecka in Mysore India (2014) and Transomatic Ayurvedic course in Mumuksha with B Naga Kumar (2016). Also Magnified Healing with Angelika Agnostou (2016). Nowadays, she is studying the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads with her teacher Arvind Pare and Pranayama and Kriyas with Robert Moses. Marilu studied and performed Modern Dance and Ballet, exploring many types of corporal expression and rediscovering Ecstatic Dance and the power of music for healing. In February 2018 Marilu moved to Lombok Indonesia with her family and worked for Ashtari Yoga until March 2020.
