On entering the gates of The Courtyard you will leave behind the stresses of everyday life and relax into the flow of our peaceful and friendly retreat. You will leave The Courtyard feeling refreshed and invigorated with a sense of calm and a positive mindset and more than likely a few new friends in tow! Our beautiful former Victorian model farm is nestled amidst rolling hills and forestry in Wicklow within easy driving distance from Dublin.
The Courtyard is reputed as being one of the best yoga retreats in Ireland and recently featured in The Guide to the Top Yoga Retreats in Ireland published by The Sunday Times. Our success as a yoga retreat is not only due to having all the essential elements of a good yoga retreat but the fact that we are a family run business and we make our home your home. You will feel at home and part of the group no matter what your age or level of yoga may be. Our yoga teachers are extremely experienced, we only use the best. Our beautiful accommodation is located in the courtyard farm houses which have all been sympathetically restored and modernised retaining original features. The houses are truly special. We have a wonderful purpose renovated 80m2 yoga room with floor to ceiling arched windows overlooking the courtyard. Food is our passion and we take real pride in our vegetarian cooking. Our foodie team includes a Ballymaloe trained chef and a highly experienced caterer. The retreat includes guided walks and other optional activities. This really is a special retreat come and see for yourselves. We depend greatly on word of mouth and repeat business and we offer our regulars loyalty discounts. The Carriage House This beautiful old carriage house was painstakingly restored by my father Noel, Sean his skilled labourer and now good friend and myself, yes, I will take some credit for the pointing of the old walls and painting of the old ceiling timbers. But seriously, a big thanks to Noel for giving in to my pleas to have a purpose restored yoga room, which has brought lots of pleasure to our yoga retreat groups over the years. The room has a very warm atmosphere. It has exposed limestone walls, smooth maple wood flooring which was salvaged from an old school house. The room is bright with 3 large arched floor to ceiling windows overlooking the courtyard. The courtyard lawns are used for outdoor sessions.
The happy healthy foodie team Olivia and Frances are passionate about vegetarian food and are always trying new recipes. Olivia trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School and Frances has worked in catering for over 20 years. They make a great team and thoroughly enjoy being creative in the kitchen and nourishing you throughout the weekend. Olivia & Frances are more than happy to discuss the ingredients & recipes with you, they love sharing their passion with those who are interested.”We work on a simple principal that we only serve you recipes that we love ourselves! this may sound selfish but the theory works and our guests love our food! Some simply want to return for a weekend of amazing food! We simply love good food cooked well and we love trying new recipes! Where vegetarian food is concerned it’s all about getting a good balance of flavours, textures, colours and of course using good wholesome and fresh ingredients. We have always catered for dairy free and gluten free and now our menus are gradually becoming all dairy and gluten free, except for our breads, we provide gluten free bread but we also provide normal gluten loaves. We don’t use sugar but instead maple syrup or honey. Though, do not fear our dairy and gluten free and even sugar free recipes are not inferior in any way, you will find them simply delicious”.
