Astanga Vinyasa yoga We are dedicated to teaching Astanga Vinyasa yoga in its original form, following in the tradition of Sri T Krishnamacharya who taught the Astanga method to his student Sri K Pattabhi Jois (Guruji) May 18, 2009 Guruji passed away. (Age 94). This unique style of yoga is being taught to students throughout the world by those experienced practitioners who have studied the practice with Guruji in Mysore, India. The teachers at the Astanga Yoga Centre seek to guide students through this practice, helping unlock the body and relax the mind. We have classes for the beginner to the more experienced student and look forward to seeing you in class. Teachers ANDRE Senior Teacher Andre has been practising and teaching astanga yoga since 1991. In that time he has travelled to India many times to study astanga vinyasa yoga with Shri K Pattabhi Jois and more recently with Guruji’s grandson Sharath. He has two children Shanti and Connor who join him with his wife Dee on his travels to India. Classes We have a range of classes available, from beginners to advanced. For those new to yoga or if you would simply like shorter midweek practice 60 minute This class is designed to prepare you for the Led Primary Classes. It is recommended that you attend a couple of these classes before moving to the 75 minute Led Primary classes. Astanga Yoga Led 75 This is a 75 minute class. A great place to start if you already have some knowledge of yoga. You will find this class more dynamic than most other styles of yoga. Sun salutations – Forwards bends – Twists – Backbends – Shoulder stand Extended Led Primary Class: Additional postures – student dependant. Please allow more time for this class. Mysore style A self-practice class with hands on guidance and adjustment by an experienced teacher. Familiarity with the Primary Series is recommended.
