Pilates New Windsor Opening at 8:00 AM on Tuesday CONTACT US What is Pilates? Pilates is natural movement that encourages concentration with a focus on breath while strengthening and balancing the whole body by targeting those lesser used muscles. The Pilates method is designed for beginner to advanced bodies. From Just off the couch to the highest level of athlete, you can benefit from incorporating Pilates into your routine. What is involved in an Initial Consultation? Your initial consultation will identify your postural needs, your body's imbalances and your personal goals in your journey in pilates. In this one hour session, you will be assessed by a certified instructor so that we can write a tailor-made program for you. Postural analysis, strength testings and correct form will be discussed and tested appropriately. What is a Duet session? Duet sessions are a good fit for you if: -You and your partner are of similar levels and have similar fitness goals. -You and your partner have similar schedules and both plan on consistent session attendance. Please get in touch for additional information about duet sessions. We do not match duetpartners up and ask that you come with your own partner. I'm pregnant. Is Pilates safe for me? Pilates certainly has proven benefits for your whole body, but specifically for your core which includes; transversus abdominis, multifidus, diaphragm and pelvic floor; thus preparing you for the birth of your baby and for recovery after. Every pregnancy is different and therefore it would be best to start with private sessions. What is the difference between Pilates & Yoga? At Pilates we provide the mats! Joking aside, there are some similarities. Yoga is one of the six orthodox schools in Hindu philosophy. It is based on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and aims to use meditation to attain spiritual insight and tranquillity. We understand that Yoga focuses on flexibility and mobility. How often should I practice Pilates? To experience the optimal benefits of Pilates, it’s important to commit yourself regularly! We recommend a minimum of 1 time per week, more (2 - 3 times) if you can make the time. Whether in a private class or duet class, consistency will accelerate your results and greatly enhance your overall health.
