About Clinical Pilates Pilates is a form of physical exercise that was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century in Germany. It focuses on breath, movement, strength, flexibility, balance and control. Clinical pilates is a scientific approach to Pilates. It combines the Pilates method with evidence-based Physiotherapy as a means of treating a variety of injuries. Based on a clinical assessment with a Physiotherapist, an exercise programme will be developed to address the specific needs of your injury, rather than generic exercises given in a group class. This ensures optimal gains while minimising the chance of aggravation of your injury or symptoms. Clinical Pilates utilising the Pilates equipment affords support and assistance to allow people with limited range of movement or injuries to safely do modified exercises. It is extremely effective, but at the same time gentle and safe.
