The Christchurch Buddhist Centre is part of the Rigdzin Trust, a registered New Zealand charity directed by Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche. The centre is located in Phillipstown and is host to a number of regular and special events including: Sundays. Currently the 21 Tara teachings, meditations and mantra recitations are held every fortnight on a Sunday morning from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Please check to see dates by phoning Erin or Claire Thursday evenings from 7.30 p.m. Shambala sitting and walking meditations. For more information on please go to the Activities Page. Arriving at the Centre The gompa is situated behind the main house. As you walk down the gravel driveway you are greeted by an impressively crafted antique Tibetan monastery door. Nestled amongst a sanctuary of trees and flowers and waving Tibetan prayer flags the surroundings of the Gompa (meditation hall) support a reflective and meditative learning environment. The Kora (or path around the Gompa) has also been carefully constructed to support practice. There is a ramp to enable access to the front entrance via the large Tibetan doors. Dho Nyak Osel Ling - Christchurch Buddhist Centre 43 Harrow Street, Phillipstown, Christcurch 8011 The Christchurch Shambhala group that meets on Thursday nights is part of Shambhala International, a worldwide community of meditation centres founded by meditation master Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and led today by his son Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Their teachings bring together three streams of wisdom: the Kagyu and Nyingma teachings of Tibetan Buddhism the wisdom teachings of Shambhala The meditation session consists of 20 minutes sitting, 10 minutes walking, and 20 minutes sitting again. This is followed by either short video clips, a presentation from someone in the group or a reading and a discussion.
