Christchurch Centre Diamond Way Buddhist centers, under the spiritual guidance of the 17th Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje and founded by Lama Ole Nydahl, are friendly places where you can easily access Buddhist teachings, learn to meditate, and meet others who have incorporated Buddhist practices into their daily lives. Here in Christchurch we have a regular programme of guided meditations, introductory talks and lectures that you are welcome to attend. What we offer At present we are open to the public on Thursday nights at 8pm. When you come, you will be given a short explanation about Buddhism and the methods we use, followed by a guided meditation. For more in-depth information we also have an Introduction to Buddhism talk each first Thursday of the month at 8pm on Diamond Way Buddhist topics. This is followed by a guided meditation. We are usually finished just after 9pm. Newcomers are always welcome to attend any of the meditation evenings on offer. You don’t need to bring anything and there is no charge. There is time after the meditation to ask questions that you may have, check out our bookshop of recommended Buddhist texts and join us for refreshments. Covid19 We are open to the public under all current traffic light designations. We don’t require a vaccine pass. All attendees need to contact trace via mobile phone or manually. Under orange traffic light designation, we are limited to 50 people. Under red traffic light designation, we are limited to 25 people.
