OUR VISION Cathy’s vision to provide a secular yoga practice broadens the appeal beyond traditional yoga to a more modern, athletic and therapeutic style that focuses on the whole body and mind function. OUR STORY In 2013 Cathy Gamba and Brent Oliver were expecting their second baby girl. Cathy set about becoming self-employed with a job that ticked all the boxes; a focus on health, one that afforded her the freedom to care for her children and ignite her passions. Pause Yoga was founded out of a true desire to share the benefits of mindfulness & yoga in a stunning setting and give busy Wellingtonians a taste of serenity as soon as they would step into the studio. Nestled in the bush in Days Bay, Eastbourne, the Pause Yoga journey and experience begins before you even arrive at the studio. Walking up through the bush path to get to the space, your breath is quite literally taken away. This is all part of the journey – an opportunity to detach from the world in which you have come, to fully arrive at Pause. YOGA LIKE NO OTHER The architectural award winning studio designed by NZ architect Paul Rolfe is purpose built and a big point of difference for Pause. Paul’s vision for the space was to feel as if you were inside a tree looking out over the bush and the harbour of Wellington. The light wooden interior and the darkened stained wooden exterior reflect that of the surrounding Beech trees around the studio. As soon as you enter through the main door, you are immediately transported into a holiday oasis of relaxation. The interior has plywood walls and macrocarpa flooring, apart from the sliding glazed doors which open up into a dramatic landscape view of beech trees and sky, carefully framed by the architect.
