In the Philippines, Bahay means house, as Kalipay is the Filipino word for happiness. We have long dreamed of this, a happy house of people living in the spontaneous moment, in authentic togetherness, trust-filled in the presence of what is sacred and simple in the nature that surrounds us.
As a self-sustainable community of spiritual seekers, artists, healers, teachers, and explorers of a raw food lifestyle from around the world, we share the vision of living in harmony with each other, the community, and Nature by making conscious choices towards the evolution of body, mind and spirit that honors the various levels of preparedness of the individual.
This simple, unassuming center has influenced the world in simple yet powerful ways.ur intention is to support your path even after you leave Bahay Kalipay. We encourage those who wish to undergo personal transformation through a range of modalities, including Inner Dance, and its deep connection to raw food, gardening, yoga, meditation and earth consciousness to stay with us for support on their inner work. Guests can also join Bahay Kalipay as stay-in practitioners who would like the freedom to take part of and contribute to the programs according to their own flow.
While our doors are always open to returning family members, we honor your journey by providing you with tools to use when you reintegrate back to your own homes.
It is difficult to speak of the living memory of the thousands of visitors and residents whom have blessed the space with their love and their light. The tremendous transformation processes that have happened here are forever cast on the foundations of this place we lovingly call the Temple of Trust. We are honored by every singly presence that have graced these humble hallways of healing.
We are deeply grateful. How we formed Bahay Kalipay.Bahay Kalipay started with the most unlikely dilapidated hut sitting on a garbage-filled lot, full of broken-down refrigerators gathering mosquito larvae, broken glass, used diapers and burnt corals. When Pi Villaraza first came upon this unlikely spot, he suddenly saw a vision of a place filled with energy and where much healing is happening.
With almost no money but just fuel for inspiration, Pi moved in almost instantaneously and for the first 6 months in near solitude, dove into the clean up and planting work, slowly sowing the seed that grew to the life-giving tree that Bahay Kalipay is now.
The energy that built the space is called the Inner Dance, a powerful phenomenon that emerged from Pi’s five-year vision quest around the Philippines and parts of America in search for his own joy and happiness.
Later, Daniw Arrazola, co-founder and resident raw food chef, left her life in Manila to join Pi establishing a very simple raw food kitchen. This complemented the regular inner dance sessions that would take place where Pi resided. As friends and pilgrims came to join, contributing art and hard work to the dream, the name Bahay Kalipay – or House of Happiness – and the dream itself was birthed. In 2007, the doors were opened to the world, with the intention of creating a sustainable model, a place of transformation that brought healing by helping people return to their basic goodness, self-remembrance and their innate power.
This simple, unassuming center has influenced the world in simple yet powerful ways. Bahay Kalipay was instrumental in kickstarting the raw food movement in the Philippines and parts of Southeast Asia. In the last seven years, Daniw has consistently trained and inspired so many raw foodists and centers who were able to gain confidence from what Bahay Kalipay taught through sheer demonstration.
Accommodations include private couples cabin, family rooms, and individual rooms for our guests, which are almost always retreatants. We have a daily onsite staff of kitchen personnel, guest relations and retreat facilitators, and offer daily housekeeping as requested, and as-needed laundry services.
