Om Shambhala Yoga, Meditation & Music Namaste! And welcome to Om Shambhala ashram in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The ashram opened its doors in 2020, and has already hosted first guests who enjoyed several days of peaceful practice. Located within a tranquil, beautifully tended garden, the ashram is within the vicinity of the ancient sacred city of Anuradhapura, whose majestic Buddhist stupas imbue the spirits of a civilisation that ruled over the island for more than 1,200 years. The temple complex is also home to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree, cut from the historical tree a Bodh Gaya in India, where the Buddha attained enlightenment. Also within a short journey lies the mountain peak of Mihintale, revered as the place where Buddhism was first brought to Sri Lanka by Prince Mahinda of India. Practice at Om Shambhala is centred around the Vajrayana tradtion of Buddhism, which originated in the mountains of Tibet and provided profound inspiration for our guru during the time he spent there under the tutelage of the Himalayan lamas. There is also a spiritual library available at the ashram for guests to explore at their leisure. About Me “Namaste! I’m Tharaka, a local born yoga and Bhuddist meditation teacher. After living an ascetic life for more than 15 years, travelling from mountain to mountain and between forests like a wandering Sensei, I have created my own yoga ashram called Om Shambhala. On divine guidance, I am here to share the light of Dhamma (Buddha's teachings) with all those who seek a more peaceful and meaningful life. I look forward to sharing this experience with you.
