ABOUT SSBC Sri Subodharama Buddhist Center (SSBC) is a charitable organization; so is exempted from tax by the Sri Lankan government (act number 61 of 1992). This Buddhist centre is managed by the Subodharama Sasana Seva Society. The main purpose of SSBC is to instruct and train monks and those who are interested in Theravada Buddhist teachings. It also serves as a social welfare organization. VENERABLE WATTEGAMA DHAMMAWASA NAYAKA THERO Venerable Wattegama Dhammawasa Nayaka Thero is the director and chief monk of Sri Subodharama Buddhist Center. He is also the chief monk and the president of Sri Lankarama Maha Viharaya in Ellen Grove, Brisbane and is the Chief Sangha Nayaka of Australia. As an acknowladgement for his eminent services to the Buddha Sasana in Sri lanka and beyond its borders the 'Maha Sanga Sabha' of the Udarata Amarapura sector has elevated him to the rank of cardinal monk (Chief Sanga Nayaka) of Centrel province. Also he has ordained many monks in to the maha sangha (great brotherhood of monks) and worked tirelessly towards the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical improvement of the people served by him. Sri Subodharama International Buddhist Centre Sri Subodharama International Buddhist Centre is situated on a small hill adjoining Peradeniya town in Kandy district; served by the cool breeze of river ‘Mahawelli’ and facing the ‘Hanthana’ mountain range. It performs religious, educational and social welfare services in Sri Lanka as well as other countries.
